Only 42% of households own one or more guns in the U.S.. unfortunately, many are owned and used regularly by criminals in the inner cities.

Does that change anything that I said?

No, just frames the discussion properly. We all know what you were trying to infer.

If you don't have any kids in the house, keep gun loaded. and off safety. If carrying on person, keep loaded and off safety. Personally, I like single actions.

My kids were trained to respect guns from the day they were old enough to hold one and they never picked up a gun unless they were given permission to pick it up and it was always loaded and ready to fire. They respected the gun and also their parents. even in adult life today they still respect guns and never put their finger on the trigger except to fire them. Teach them young and the problem will not be there. They always told their friends that came to visit to not touch any of the guns and it always worked out good.

PS
Mine were always loaded and off safety and no one ever got hurt.
Train your children.

I'm one rack away, and I practice. My Sig Sauer doesn't have a safety, neither do any of my other pistols, all loaded, ready to be chambered.

Sometime you do not have time to chamber. That is why cops always have a round in the chamber. Your dumb if one is not in the chamber .

I agree, but I had round go off once...so I am more unprepared to fire, but I practice to be very fast in pulling the slide.

The US has more guns than people so we should be completely safe from crime according to your thinking.

I AM completely safe from crime.
So, are my brothers.
Crime is for VICTIMS. Powerless victims.
I have Sam Colt's legendary legacy:

"Abe Lincoln may have freed all men, but Sam Colt made them equal."

Yeah, better to die sobbing and pleading while waiting for the social worker to show up and stop the thug from murdering you.
Gun control is hitting your assailant, and us Trump lovin old guys practice hitting your beloved thugs.

Totally agree. My daughter (now 38 with two kids) shot my 1911 .45 at eight years old, knew to not touch any of my weapons without me being present. I gave my granddaughter a .22 when she was 5 and a .243 when she was 11. She out shoots me every time and impresses he dad who is a dead eye with firearm or bow. Mike
