Passing up highly qualified pilots for less qualified ones is no less than criminal insanity.
We already have idiots in the control towers because of this and it has created a dangerous situation.
The whole thing just gives me the creeps.

I do not fly often. I feel for those who must do so for work. Insurance policies are a very good idea before you fly with today's policies.

What policies are those?

Your comment about those in the control towers shows the true identity of the idiot.

You are a dam fool who knows nothing. Highly qualified controllers have been passed up to put much less qualified in their place only because of their race. When you become a pilot who has had much experience flying in and out
of congested airports come back and put in your 2 cents. Until then shut the hell up about subjects that you know nothing. That , in your case, would include just about everything.

OK. Let's spell it out for you.
The general idea of not hiring the most qualified in order to meet racial quota requirements is clearly stupid, and is a violation of the law that judges, etc, have chosen to ignore or proclaim as "needed". In many cases it is dangerous, and in a few cases insanely dangerous.
IF any airline uses such a system to hire less than qualified pilots, then buying a large insurance policy before flying is the thing to do to protect your family. Preferably from the airline itself, so that THEY are paying the cost if the worst should happen. That was my point in the prior post.
I do not know about the hiring policies for flight controllers, but if the other posting is true, and racial quotas are in place, then that, too, is idiotic and dangerous.
My first indirect contact with racial quotas was in 1974, when I met a fellow at college, a brilliant man, who lost out to a less qualified minority student for admittance to MIT. During college, when I taught Physics labs, I saw many more examples. Exchange students brought in who could not speak or understand the English language, but they helped the university meet quotas. In the decades since, I have seen this stupidity applied many times, and have not seen a single example where good came from it. I deplore racism in ANY form. Including the quotas system that the left loves so much.

You're comment "Highly qualified controllers have been passed up to put much less qualified in their place only because of their race", shows who is making foolish comments & knows not what they're talking about. Have you ever been in a control tower? Have you've been to the FAA training facility? From you comments, the answer to both is "no". When you learn something about the NAS, or anything at all, feel free to reply. Otherwise, follow your own advice.

His original comment was "Insurance policies are a very good idea before you fly with today's policies". I was curious to know what policies of air travel hee thought made the purchase of life insurance necessary.

Thank you for answering. There is presently a shortage of those wishing to begins air traffic controllers. Despite the high pay, finding qualified persons is difficult. The wash out rate is high. Same for pilots. Most come from the military (pilots & controllers). The idea that unqualified persons will become pilots or controllers is incorrect.

Some people are "more equal" in todays bullschiffe identity politics of the galacticly stupid left. It is helping them achieve their Marxist goals in dividing our country though.

I sincerely hope you are right!!
But I've seen a lot of examples, in less critical positions admittedly, where completely UNqualified folks were hired in order to meet racial quotas, so you can understand my skepticism.

Why start with qualifications, when we start with color, gender or political party. I kicked butt on a simulator once, wonder if I would qualify

Guess I have to repeat myself for you since apparently you have a reading comprehension problem. Actually , you are far worse than just a fool. First:https://mslegal.org/2019/02/fight-escalates-over-race-based-hiring-program-at-the-faa/ .
"It may come as a shock to most Americans that the Obama administration dropped a skill- based system for selecting and hiring air traffic controllers (ATCs), and replaced it with a new system designed to favor applicants on the basis of their race."
Second: I have spent thousands of hours flying in the Air Traffic Control system. I personally know how critical
high level competency and precision is. I don't want anyone in a tower that is not the best. There is zero room for mistakes. And yes , I have been in towers and FAA facilities many times. I have also provided the "target" many times for controllers practice of surveillance approaches.
So halfwit, try to learn just one thing. When you are in a hole it is best to stop digging.

So I will repeat one more time for you.

Sorry, I misunderstood...

Here's a couple~~ maintenance issues of planes has always been a problem.. Airlines supposedly follow the FAA requirements yet thats not true in everyday business of the aircraft..propellers fly off, engines drop from the sky, landing gear not detectable a frequent issue and comes right out if the pilots mouth that have to lower and circle so the tower can telling if down.. I have personally experienced that issue.. perhaps because I fly a lot??

Then FAA failing to monitor these airlines properly, not enforcing their own guidelines, failing to do independent inspections of planes...

Thanks Skydiver, "skill" trumps everything else in my book including education which isn't worth 1/10 of what we pay for it.
