I Wish You Could See For Yourself

This is the time of year that Texas shows off it's colors.

The wildflowers have literally exploded this season and it really is something that you just have to see for yourself.

Me and the Angel left yesterday on our annual wildflower drive through the Texas hill country.

We left Comanche and drove through Brownwood to Brady and then on down to Fredericksburg.

All along the way it was as if we were subjects in a Van Gogh painting.

The bluebonnets are in full bloom and my angel couldn't be happier.

She can identify, by name, at least twenty different types of wildflowers.

But she tells me there are more than a thousand different species right here in our little neck of the woods.

Her two favorites are the bluebonnets and the Indian blankets.

As spectacular as the blooming flowers are, they don't compare to the smile and the glow on her face when she looks out across a field of dancing colors.

We drove on over to Georgetown where the red poppies are beginning to bloom.

We decided to spend the night here and continue our trek today and make it back home tonight.

So we're up and ready to hit the trail.

I'm taking a meandering route over to Brenham Texas because you can't go on a wildflower tour without driving up or down the magical "Wildflower Road".

So turn off your stupid TV.

Take off that stupid mask.

Put that stupid cell phone in silent mode.

Then get in your hoopty and come join us here in the greatest doggone chunk of dirt in this here United States of America.

I am so envious. Nothing to see here except the azaleas now the the camellias have finished. Now we have several species of birds to watch. The most beautiful ones on our feeder are the blue jays and the cardinals. I enjoyed your post so thank you.

Having lived in The Hill Country of Texas for most of my adult life, I am happy to say this is another posting by you with which I totally agree. I also agree with your Angel on her favorite two flowers...although, I call 'em Indian War Bonnets instead of Indian blankets. That is, unless they're separate varieties of wildflowers.

I miss seeing the Bluebonnets, and Indian Paintbrush, they are so colorful, and those Bluebonnets smell so good.
We left Texas about 4 years ago. My husband is a native Texas, born in Waco. I am a native Floridian.
We moved to Tn, and what a big mistake. My allergies are so bad here, worse I have ever had. We are planning on moving next year, good Lord willing, to Florida, my home state. My daughter still is in Texas, she lives outside Houston, in Hockley. We lived in Houston for 15 years, and moved up to Lake Somerville, close to College Station. So many Bluebonnets, and Paintbrushes there. Enjoy them while they are blooming, they don’t stay long when it gets too hot.
