I always say it is our responsibility to insure our air, water and land is kept clean... Other than that our Earth is going to do what it has done since its existence... Evolutionary changes that are natural and needed to keep it in its natural habitat and safe....

Climate change is just that and done to perfect the pressure valves of Earth.. Ice ages and warming trends are its own process.. The sun, moon, other orbital planets and heck the Universe all have cause and effect..Things we have no control over..Thank God, when we look at what we have done to our air, water and land....

Think about it~~ We all know that the interior of the earth is composed of exceedingly hot molten iron, and that the tendency of heat is to diffuse from hot to cold. We cannot control the cooling of the earth, and this cooling process has to involve diffusion of heat from the interior to the much cooler surface/mantle... Lest we boil over and explode as many a star, as an example.. The movement of the tectonic plates against each other during earthquakes (large or small) must have an effect on such heat diffusion from core to surface, especially when you consider the excessive amount of CO2 released..

I believe or suspect, I should say, that the main cause of global warming is the weakening of the magnetic field of our Earth....As the geomagnetic continues to weaken, the global temperature on Earth will rise. However, ahead of that is the global cooling to the ice age..
Fortunately, It is speculative that the ice age should come about in 500 years, to 5000 years, something like that.??? So be grateful while none of us will be here we can be calmed knowing there is at least another 500 years of climatic optimum! Or so it is said~~~positive in all things no matter how bleak we try to make things...

That is an interesting theory but I think we would have strong evidence of that were it to be true. The earths magnetic field has reversed on average about every 400,000 years, if I remember correctly. We can see this in the crust of the earth looking at dipole minerals in the basaltic plains of the deep ocean. Again, my terminology is suspect. I haven't discussed this in a long while. I don't know if there is evidence of cooling and warming along this timeline.

It is only my theory from reading different things when studying what truly causes our warming and ice age periods.. Both occurring well before humans set their own footprint in the mix and continuing through to the present..

I know little of the magnetic fields function and reversals or even why it happens only that it does..and seems to have occurred more frequently than say millions of years ago.. It’s very difficult to know anything about the core and its behavior, but the switching of the north and south poles is initself very interesting.. Good thing the poles shifting places occur over several thousand years..And I do know I was fascinated in the research of molten rock to determine the shifts based on the sediments of the rocks formed from volcanic activity..

Our world and its formation ever so intriguing, especially when we search its origination..Was it the big bang theory ?? Another topic~~

I don’t know if you have followed any of the Mars mission and viewed the pictures and the articles, but as I read this I thought of our discussions thus far and thought it may interest you..

An introduction~~

Once upon a time, Mars was a world of cataclysms. Its namesake, the Roman war god, would likely have been pleased to see it in action: Volcanic cathedrals of flame unleashed armies of molten rock that obliterated the planet’s surface.
<snip> much more to read, should you wish..
And NASA’s InSight lander, which has been peeking inside Mars for two years now, has picked up on some curious seismic signals emanating from one such site of youthful volcanism. The results, which were presented at a conference in December, are not definitive. But they suggest that InSight could be hearing the sounds of convulsing magma — the drumbeat of volcanic warfare presumed to have fallen silent eons ago.
“It is a very exciting finding and, if confirmed, suggests that Mars could enter the pantheon of currently volcanically active worlds within our solar system,” said Christopher Hamilton, a planetary scientist at the University of Arizona.
If future data and analyses establish that magma does exist, that would be a revolutionary reveal. It would be solid evidence in support of a suspicion that scientists have harbored for some time now: Rocky worlds that look volcanically dead aren’t, said Paul Byrne, a planetary scientist at North Carolina State University. They are alive — or, to put it another way, “these worlds are just dying very slowly.”
We have almost no certain knowledge about the inside of worlds, including our own. That’s a problem. “With few exceptions, the thermal evolution of a planet governs everything,” said Byrne, from the state of the surface, on which biology can take hold, to the evolution of the world’s atmosphere. “It’s one story — it’s the planet cooling down. It’s the only thing that matters.”
Volcanism is the outward expression of a planet’s internal fire, a major way for it to lose heat while giving the surface a new coat of paint. If we understand how volcanic Mars is, how capable it is of making eruptible magma, we can understand its internal evolution and compare it to Earth’s. So if it really is magma that InSight is hearing, then we come closer to understanding not only Mars, but our own planet as well. <snip>

Magna and molten~~ fascinating..

Relative to your question of the magnetic fields and its influence you may enjoy this~~I did...

good understanding of the long-term behaviour of the upper atmosphere is essential; it affects a lot of satellite-based technology, such as global navigation systems and high-frequency radio communication systems. Some satellites even operate within the upper atmosphere itself.

The increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration has been thought to be the main cause of climatic changes at these high altitudes. This study suggests that magnetic field changes that have taken place over the past century are as important.

Both increasing levels of CO2 and changes in the Earth's magnetic field affect the upper atmosphere, including its charged portion, also known as the ionosphere. Dr. Ingrid Cnossen from the British Antarctic Survey used computer simulations to compare the effects of these two factors over the past century. ( computer simulation again)

While CO2 causes heat to be trapped in the lower atmosphere, it actually cools the upper atmosphere. The simulations show that the increase in CO2 concentration over the past 100 years has caused the upper atmosphere, at around 300 km altitude, to cool by around 8 degrees. At the same altitude, changes in the Earth's magnetic field caused a similar amount of cooling over parts of North America, but caused a warming over other parts of the world, with the strongest warming, of up to 12 degrees, located over Antarctica.

Dr. Ingrid Cnossen said: "Computer simulations are a very important tool in understanding the causes of climate change at high altitudes. We still can't explain all of the long-term trends that have been observed, but it helps that we now know how important the magnetic field is."

Been working my arse off on my garden plot. Tard.

The magnetic pole reversal is a concern. Btwn the reversal, there could be years on no poles. The magnetic poles deflect a lot of high energy particles from the sun. Without the magnetic poles, life could not exist here.

We should hope it is a quick reversal!!

This was very interesting explaining how frequent reversals are and actually showing they appear just as evolutionary as the Earth itself..Thank You...
Liked this too~~

Reversals are the rule, not the exception. Earth has settled in the last 20 million years into a pattern of a pole reversal about every 200,000 to 300,000 years, although it has been more than twice that long since the last reversal. A reversal happens over hundreds or thousands of years, and it is not exactly a clean back flip. Magnetic fields morph and push and pull at one another, with multiple poles emerging at odd latitudes throughout the process. Scientists estimate reversals have happened at least hundreds of times over the past three billion years. And while reversals have happened more frequently in "recent" years, when dinosaurs walked Earth a reversal was more likely to happen only about every one million years. < (Scientist estimate)

Sediment cores taken from deep ocean floors can tell scientists about magnetic polarity shifts, providing a direct link between magnetic field activity and the fossil record. The Earth's magnetic field determines the magnetization of lava as it is laid down on the ocean floor on either side of the Mid-Atlantic Rift where the North American and European continental plates are spreading apart. As the lava solidifies, it creates a record of the orientation of past magnetic fields much like a tape recorder records sound. The last time that Earth's poles flipped in a major reversal was about 780,000 years ago, in what scientists call the Brunhes-Matuyama reversal. The fossil record shows no drastic changes in plant or animal life. Deep ocean sediment cores from this period also indicate no changes in glacial activity, based on the amount of oxygen isotopes in the cores. This is also proof that a polarity reversal would not affect the rotation axis of Earth, as the planet's rotation axis tilt has a significant effect on climate and glaciation and any change would be evident in the glacial record.

What is abundantly clear is there certainly is more at work here on climate change than the footprint of humans..

It looks as if the reversal of the magnetic field will not have severe effects on us. Which puts this in the odd knowledge category of essentially useless information. Most of what I know is essentially useless. I am a non essential worker as far as being honored or getting in line for a vaccine. My wife seems to think she is some kind of essential because she keeps trying to get an appoitnment for a vaccine shot and keeps being disappointed. Severely disappointed.

I on the other hand have accepted that being essentially non essential, I will not be getting a vaccine anytime soon. I am not stressed out at all. Once all of the essential people are vaccinated herd immunity will essentially protect me. By the time the vaccines get to me, all of the bugs should be worked out, plus I will not need a booster shot, which I think will be common as the virus continues to mutate.

It may not have an impact on us this day and time but the realization that it may thousands of years to come and impact solar absorption to a detrimental early death of our beautiful Earth is also evident... May help us understand the true mechanics when she goes bang or dies away as is implied with what we are learning of and on Mars...

You are not a non essential to me and why would you let some government term sway you to believe such... We are all essential, with perhaps exception of politicians!! 😉 They know it too but look to demoralize rather than build up...

As for the vaccine I figure we are 13 months into “ this virus” and I have not contracted it.. Don’t know many whom have. Do know of some who recovered quick enough, a week or so...Accordingly I will keep doing as I am and look forward to some truth on the vaccine as it progresses in time relative to all those unknown side effects and whether of not the herd immunity takes effect.. Not interested in the unknown foreign whatever's used to bring such (thankful ) vaccines or so I hope..

Stay healthy, stay safe, Colorado is doing 60 and older and more first responders, teachers etc now and we have gone to blue level as of last Friday.. Curious in all the age bracket stuff have yet to here if Nursing home staff and residents are receiving the vaccine? One would assume they would have been first, given what we learned with Comous’ brilliance and now intentionally skewed numbers of deaths..

One of my close relatives, a liberal, does work in the earth sciences and has told me that long term, very very long term we are pretty well doomed. I cannot remember the time line, but many moons after our great great great great grand children have come and gone, the magnetic field protecting the earth will just fail. The atmosphere will leak in to space, the oceans will boil off and that is just the beginning of bad things to come. Liberals will find out what real Global Warming feels like.

By then we had better be well past even the Star Trek science, because our descendants will have to get out of Dodge. Perhaps real estate on Mars will look pretty attractive by then.

Thank you for the kind essential comments. I am not as gloomy as I may have sounded. Somehow everyone in my " inner circle " , including me has remained virus free. I am careful, but I admit to being a little cavalier about the threat. It wasn't until November that I became worried at all. Suddenly a lot of people just around the perimeter of my " inner circle " caught the virus.

Now even though my wife and I cannot get the shot yet, I am beginning to be less worried. Less and less people I personally know are getting the virus in the last 3 weeks. I am still doing the precautions, but as the sunlight grows every day, I pray we are actually in less danger. Sunlight is supposed to slow down the infection rates.
