Correct me if I'm wrong, but Congress has no authority to try a civilian. Right? As a civilian, Trump is entitled to a trial by a jury of his peers. It's in the Bill of Rights. Who do these clowns think they are?

What the Libs don't understand is that by trying to impeach him twice, they change his historical status from malefactor to celebrity victim. They make Pelosi into the stereotype of an evil BWITCH. She did it to herself.

I believe you're right. This is a terrible precedent. Imagine the outrage if the shoe were to be on the other foot after Biden leaves office.

Jack Dempsey helped Trump by shutting down his Twitter account. This will bring more sympathy toward Trump the longer Schumer and Pelosi play this charade.

Actually, there is precedent. But the Constitution is clear on this. The sole purpose of impeachment is to remove a president, or other elected official, from office.since he's gone, they can't touch him.

I believe you are correct that a couple of judges or other officials have been impeached this way in our history. However, they were not the President. As you say, the Constitution is quite clear on this

Chief Justice Roberts will probably not want to have anything to do with the trial in the Senate. If he is smart he will avoid it like a plague by recusing himself from the trial because he and the court may yet have to hear cases related to this creating a conflict of interest for Roberts if he presides over the impeachment trial. There will be no trial.

Nonsense if convicted he is stripped of pension and benefits including secret service protection and barred from holding office in the future.

yeah, it's amusing that some folks are going after the verbal and semantic errors of others after supporting Donald Trump. Self-reflection is not their strong suit.
