GOP (now renamed EOP, "enemy of the people") has open arms for insurrection

At least 21 state and local Republican officials attended the Jan. 6 rally in Washington, D.C., that turned into a violent riot, according to a new HuffPost tally, many of whom are now under pressure to resign.

They traveled from 16 different states, arriving for the “Stop the Steal” demonstration on the White House Ellipse, where they watched President Donald Trump tell incendiary lies about having been robbed of reelection. He then told the crowd of thousands to march on the Capitol.

In the crowd that day were 13 members of state Houses or Assemblies; three state senators; a county commissioner; a city council member; a GOP congressional district chair; a district director; and a co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party. The group also includes a QAnon conspiracy theorist; a self-described member of a fascist militia; and a man who once declared that “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.”

Only two of those GOP officials appear to have breached the Capitol property itself that day, and have since been arrested, but the prevalence of Republican legislators and party functionaries at the demonstration underscores the party’s rank complicity in fomenting a historic insurrection.

These GOP officials, after all, were taking part in, and lending credence to, the finale of a monthslong campaign to falsely discredit the results of a fair election. All were eager participants in a nakedly anti-democratic ploy to keep their preferred president in power, and helped whip a fascist mob into a frenzy.

All are now facing calls to resign, but only one has done so. And although most have since condemned the violence, vandalism, and looting at the Capitol — which led to the deaths of five people — many have sought to deflect blame. Of the 21 GOP officials in HuffPost’s tally, at least 13 have made statements attempting to blame the violence on “antifa” or “paid provocateurs.”

The FBI says there is no evidence “antifa” orchestrated that day’s chaos. There is a mountain of evidence, however, showing the violence was committed by a Make America Great Again mob.

Here are the names of the state and local GOP officials that were part of that mob. (This list does not include the federal lawmakers in attendance.)

Did you know that Philip Sheridan was the one that coined the phrase, “A good Indian is a dead Indian”? I believe this was done when he was a Junior Officer serving in the Northwestern states and repeated at a later time also. Are you aware that after the Civil War Sheridan was sent to Texas and while there was removed from office by a Democrat who did not want Sheridan to enforce the equal rights of the freed slaves?

So no pimply-faced college students storming the castle, eh? What I find humorous is the instant there was blowback (that night) they (the party of individual responsibility) blamed Antifa. Antifa isn't the Democratic party while MAGA IS the Republican party and they can't blame anyone for that but themselves...

Only thing worse would be to help bail out violent rioters and looters, some damaging and burning federal buildings and occupying whole city blocks.

Now imagine if one of those doing the bailing of these criminals became vice President.

Quit instigating stupid crap, you cry and whine about some imaginary righty slight upon... whatever????

Stumble up to a mirror..... there is the problem looking back at you.

At your age you should be flat out ashamed of your continued actions with the only goal of continuing the division.

Just stop! !

Done..... we can make America great without a slogan that some are sensitive about....you're part of that we.

We will always be far greater than any country pulling up at #2..... it really doesn't need saying.

Your turn to come this way a few steps.

I was never a Trump supporter. Maga and Antifa are not equivalent though. Not even close.

You are also part of inciting division with your talk of “we will...”. I’ve never been part of that silliness.

The mob killed one Capitol Police officer. Maybe his family should just ignore that; after all, aren't people entitled to believe differently than they do? Sarcasm intended here.

The mob threatened hundreds of congresspeople. That's our Congress they were threatening. The mob threatened our very government. Our entire nation could have collapsed. People in the mob, inside the Capitol building, were looking for congresspeople. If they had caught even one, we might be in a hostage situation right now, or possibly a situation involving a dead congressperson -- even if not deliberately -- all it would take would be one drunkard with a gun in that mob.

As it was, they appear to have been mostly-chemically-sober but malicious and killed one person by throwing a fire extinguisher, then jeopardized national security in as many ways as they could manage to do. (begin sarcasm) Oh well, they don't believe like we do, so we are supposed to tolerate those things (end sarcasm): No! Wake up; there were extraordinary physical things going on there, and they have to be addressed, not just tolerated. You thought we wouldn't know that; you thought we were just fools, because we "tolerate" some things.

You characterize a "party of tolerance", as though if it tolerates some things, then it should tolerate all things.

The riot happened in large part because of a belief that the election was stolen. After _recounts_, _audit(s)_, and _dozens_ of _failed_ Trump _lawsuits_, even the Supreme Court, even stacked with Trump-nominated appointees, didn't find Trump's case about the election worth much. But a lot of Republican officials (including Trump) _continued_ to fan the flames of falsehood, logically leading to the insurrection on Jan. 6. In that way, those Republican officials acted so irresponsibly that they should resign. People who act like that don't belong in those positions in our government. They have disrespected both Congress and the Judicial Branch. That leaves one of our three branches of government that they might respect: The Executive Branch. But Trump doesn't even follow the advice of his own Administration and disrespects _them_.

So what kind of government does that mob and those Republican officials respect? They respect a Dictatorship. And they're willing to overthrow our Government so they can have a Dictatorship instead.

Ah, well, but they're not _socialists_. Sarcasm intended here.
