I saw Mahogany Rush in Miami opening for Aerosmith.
Aerosmith was a disappointment. Frank smoked 'em.
So did Kansas when they opened for Aerosmith. Steve Tyler hated that!
Kerry Livgren tells a funny story about it. On the documentary Miracles out of Nowhere he said Tyler was known as a prima donna who especially didn't like warm up bands he thought were better than Aerosmith and had on occasion unplugged them.
So to prevent him from doing that they made a fake set up in the open and a real, hidden one. Tyler did try to unplug them, they saw him, it didn't work and after the concert Dave Hope went after Tyler whose bandmates apologized profusely.
Except for Steve Walsh, Kansas was a wall-to-wall-and-treetop-tall bunch of dudes, all over 6 foot. Tyler lucked out...and he was fast, I hear.
