The Rockefeller Institute of Government, a public policy think tank, calculates the balance of payments for each state in the nation, or the amount of revenue paid to the federal government from each state’s residents and economy, minus federal spending in the state.
According to their report, New York leads the nation in sending more taxpayer dollars to the federal government than it gets back in return, followed by eight other states. The other 42 states have a positive balance of payments, meaning they receive more from Washington in terms of federal dollars than they contribute in taxes.

Here states 11 states in the giving more than receiving.

I can't help but wonder what are all these red states governors and representatives are doing to remedy that? For example, Mitch McConnell has been in office since 1985, with a state sucking on the Federal tit for his entire term. What bills have he attempted to pass to help these underachieving red states and assist in promoting our economy, how many stimulus bills has he turned down due to them being simply from the left? It's not all about the president.

Agreed, depending on the sampling perimeters broken down such as say, education and income it may help zero in payers to non payers and not just population..Just giving more definitive “ causes” in other words..Large clusters of population being just that I would assume we need to go to the next factor, salaries, retired to workers, paying taxes, drawing assistance etc.. Just something that came to mind when you brought up variance reductions..I do believe it does have merit..

You tease me once again on the right time to get out for some true quite time..Thank you, really...When I do I’m going to get you a picture of the first catch!!!! May just have to make it a plan tomorrow.. Our temps are single digit to teens with highs 30/40s and overcast for the snow expected tomorrow night into Wednesday ...

Hoping you have a great weak as well... Will you be out casting??

Looking forward to that pic. I won't be getting out for a while as I'm temporarily stuck in a place where the nearest wild trout is a 16 hour drive away (which sucks majorly). Filling my fly boxes up though, so I'll be ready as soon as I get out of here!

My question, why do they keep reelecting him, I never met people who were so contented with the status quo, and that being unofficial insurance lobbyist Mitch. What gives? Talk about complacency.

It is because of that little (R) next to his name, remember, with them it is party over country. They don't care if he intends to burn this country to the ground, just as long as there is an (R) next to his name, he will get their vote.

I missed seeing you of late. I hope everything is well....

It’s winter and we’ve had snow and now we have 38° temperatures and it’s Christmas decoration time. Having fun doing it to have you started? I know many who started early simply because I believe we’ve had so much to deal with this year we all need something special and happy to do. If you haven’t go ahead and get busy Missy, your whole attitude will change and your gratitude will spike something tremendously..

Thank you for your kind words you know I love you dearly. And you are going to be the first person I start off with this... Its time to show our love and be happy....

Hi there!

I’m doing a lot more reading here lately! I still check the forum out every day to see what’s being “discussed!” LOL! Our electricity went out last night and I never logged off!

We’re having an unusual cold spell......it’s going to get down to 25 degrees tonight! That’s cold for down here! Last winter it only got below freezing one time! Nothing will surprise me now after 3 hurricanes and their aftermath! Our decorations this year will be minimal because of that. We still have a tarp over part of our roof, but I’m not complaining........we got off light! There are piles and piles of big tree limbs that have been gathered. Dauphin Island really got hit this last time. The water surge was 6ft in some places! People are resilient down here, they just pick up the pieces and put them back together! They’re pretty amazing!

My fall surprise kittens have taken over the enclosed porch area! I stripped the quilts, pillows and lace and plants, and it’s now their room! They ripped the bottom out of the futon and mama cat ripped a hole in the screen when I shut the door! Jack and my son had replaced the screen on the entire porch after one on the hurricanes destroyed it! It’s a good thing they’re CUTE! 😹. This is my Basketful of Deplorables look like!

I’m loving you right back! 🥰

Tex, I didn’t realize you got hit again...Truly sorry... Is there anything I can possibly do?? Anything you need to include a home to stay in until things are back to normal at home??

Good thing electric back on needing heat with those temps!! It is back on right??

You bring up an interesting fact about people being resilient!! Humanity always comes forward to remind us we are never alone in times of angst.. You are not....Know this please..In the face of diversity we stand united and come together as a strong reminder we will succeed “ the challenge...The world is often challenged and in that “humanity reigns through.”

Dauphin Island??? Beautiful it is, I bet the surge left many “ new shells “ to capture later on...I also hope it wasn’t damaged too badly..

Now as for those precious little wonders of mischief and love, lolol, I’m sure they keep you on your toes!!! They are too adorable..

Wait till you get your tree up~~ I can see it now~~Hope it gives a smile, just don’t let your little ones see it... They don’t need any suggestions... lol

Sending you a PM...

We are fine. We really got off light! We are 4 miles north of Dauphin Island, on a canal right off of the bay. The last hurricane hit west of us down the coast. By 10 Pm we went to bed. It was still storming some but not that bad. We weren’t expecting the water surge that happened later that night! When Jack got up the next morning and looked out the door he said, “I think we have a problem!” It looked a lot worse than it actually was. He was able to get it back down and onto the lift!

It only got down to 31 last nite. It’s still cool, but the sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day in vacation land......she’s a little battered, but strong and will recover!

This is what the surge did our boat! It was about 6” from crashing into our screened fish cleaning area!

I’m glad you are fine.. That surge likely helped save the damage your boat and dock could have had, lifting it as it did...A blessing of sorts... Nice boat, too!!!

Love that positive attitude of yours!!! Goes a long way dealing with the “ challenges and opportunity life hands us at times...💞✨🙏

Still, if anything needed let me know!! Hurricane season now over, so lets hope they are done now!!

This has been one hell of a year and its time to move out of it and into a new year filled with new everythings’ for all...We deserve it!!!!💞✨💫
