Reckless Homicide Prosecutions: For Suckers and Losers Only

We hear a lot of blather about equal justice under the law, don't we? We're mostly all for it, except maybe those who aren't. We know that when it comes to justice, you've got to pay to play. When it comes to justice, like most everything else, you're going to get what you pay for, and the more you pay, the more "justice" you're likely to get. Think O.J., for instance, but definitely do not think of countless poor bastards who couldn't make bail, pay for a good lawyer, or who faced right-wing judges appointed by those who believe that a guy who steals a loaf of bread should cool his heels in the slammer for a while, but corporate thieves and big shot CEOs are what made this country great and will make it even greater if they can just remain exempt from any law that might prevent them from keeping the Dow Jones swollen and the stock dividends flowing to wealthy shareholders.

But just for a moment let's fantasize that the law could be administered fairly, that the powerful could be held to account as sternly as a salaried worker or a single mother who may not have even understood that she was breaking the law at all when she violated some rule placed on the books by politicians paid off by lobbyists.

Wouldn't it be lovely to live in a nation where people in positions of great power were held to account for things like "reckless homicide."

Here's the Wikipedia definition of that crime: "Reckless homicide is a crime in which the perpetrator was aware that their act (or failure to act when there is a legal duty to act) creates significant risk of death or grievous bodily harm in the victim, but ignores the risk and continues to act (or fail to act), and a human death results."

I'm no lawyer, but that sounds a lot like what Donald Trump and the Republicans have been getting away with doing throughout the COVID-19 crisis as they persisted in spreading lethally false misinformation to the American people. It's what they did when they created a rift between Americans about the wearing of face masks, or when Trump called it a "hoax," or simply wanted to blame it on the Chinese, then ignore it entirely. It's what Fox "News" does nightly, and what Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and a whole band of right-wing disinformation purveyors spread daily, killing untold numbers of hospital workers, doctors, and nurses in the process.

If I leave a garden hose out on the walkway to my house, and if a mailman trips over it, I'm going to be liable for my recklessness. But if a bunch of well-heeled Republicans, led by a cartoonish president, causes tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths through deliberate and malicious lying, those criminals won't be called to account at all. But wouldn't it be nice if there could be a targeted class action suit against Trump, and Mitch McConnell, and that Atlas asshole that made them pay out of pocket for the damage they've done, the reckless homicides they've committed so cavalierly? And wouldn't it be even nicer if they did actual time in jail, as so many have done for even a single reckless homicide. These criminals, from Governor Abbott in Texas to Governor DeSantis in Florida, to that truly callous murderess, Governor Kristi Noem might be a little less reckless if they thought they would be held to account for the pain, suffering, and death they've dealt so promiscuously to so many people.

To their everlasting shame and our everlasting grief.

Feel better after your hate driven non sensical rant? I noticed you said nothing about the governor of New York whose negligence killed thousands in nursing homes. Oh, I know that was different to you. He is a Democrat.

I just knew that like any other leftist whose entire life, entire existence, revolves around "orange man bad" your entire droning soliloquy would eventually come around to the president.

After awhile, the only adjective any rational human being can possibly think of to describe people such as yourself is "pitiful."

It will soon be established that the "majority that wants Trump gone" is only a majority of fraudulently submitted and surreptitiously counted ballots and gamed in-person results on corrupted software.

The actual vast majority of voters, as you will soon learn, voted to re-elect President Trump.

But keep dreaming, it seems to be the thing you do best.

This whole bias article is based on a LIE! Obviously Jamie is a committed leftist who has no use for Capitalism or the US Justice System or Court system, he is Irish and perhaps should keep his SOCIALIST remarks to himself or spout them over the pond! THE LIE is that HE has called forth various acts that Trump and other politicians and/or people have done and APPOINTED HIMSELF as both advocate, jury & judge of said acts! This is NOT the way the world WORKS!! Not here or in the United Kingdom!

Take the statements of "Reckless Homicide" & the "spreading lethally false misinformation to the American people". I am aware that there are many people who might agree with those statements, but BELIEVING or even saying so DOES NOT MAKE IT anymore than a SUBJECTIVE utterance! There are numerous medical doctors, scientists & intelligent people who DISAGREE with those statements that the information departed was reckless, false and certainly NOT Lethal! Many feel that the wearing of masks can ACTUALLY accelerate the virus and can also be harmful for other reasons. It DID originate in China, so what is wrong with calling it a Chinese Virus? If it had originated in France we probably would have called it a "French Virus" - a rather silly point to even discuss!

Trump said that the "Politicization" of the Chinese Virus by the MSM was a Hoax, if he had felt it was in anyway a MEDICAL HOAX, he would never have barred people from China from coming here in January or made the Medical Ships available, or built temporary hospitals in various cities or ordered the many regulations to be ignored so that a VACCINE could be produced in RECORD TIME!! Nor would he have signed the law that gave extra unemployment benefits to millions and an extra $1200 in almost every American's pocket. There would NEVER have been an overabundance of ventilators or extra cash for businesses who were hurting because of this virus! FYI PRESIDENT TRUMP NEVER IGNORED this virus, he has spent much of this last year concentrated his efforts on just that!

Milosia - I realize you have liberal/leftist views, but you do yourself a huge disfavor when you read and take stock in any article, website, speech or opinion of ANYONE who is this biased against anybody or anything! It is simply an UNREASONED, UNBALANCE VIEW of life certainly in this Country but probably for most countries on this planet. I am not familiar with this writer, only looked at his Bio on Google, but he DOES NOT have a healthy mental attitude or view of Society!

This rant was actually written by someone else, no Milosia, he/she is just passing it along, but obviously relates to what he states.

For starters, that article is a bunch of biased crap. But you didn't write it. So, let's look at your personal comments
***Why does trump hate people?
>>>He doesn't
***Why is he killing them everyday?
>>>He isn't
***What is wrong with youz people following such a disgusting human being like he’s the new messiah ?
>>>I agree that some idolize him. I don't. But he has proven to be great for America despite his manner. A good many of us think one of his best assets is he stands up against the people you seem to idolize that would destroy America and turn it into a Communist dictatorship. Yes, we believe that and their actions and words give us that belief.
***What is wrong with youz.????!
