How many times have I had to tell you what "hope and change" was about?
And you still have no idea..

Not a single democrat that I have listened to pushes for socialism as you imagine it..
it is a false claim.. as in a lie, pushed by the republican brain trust and very successful in the election save nearly every replican except trump and he was beyond the norm..

so as usual lies have worked very well for republicans and we shall always see more it from now to the end of time.. Lies, lies and more lies..

I don't imagine that Joseph Stalin could have imagined that his system would ever take hold in the USA! George Orwell had some ideas about it, but nobody thought that it would actually happen here!! Anyone arguing in praise of socialism is lazy, broke, jealous, or in on the take. Robbing Peter to pay Paul always gets the support of Paul.
Where has socialism worked? Norway, Sweden, Denmark where you have to piss down the hall, sht in a closet, and stand in line for a bath in a tub with cold water?

Mikey,,, I do not think you or most who have replied read the darn post I put up..

try again, it is not very long and you only need a minute or two.. what you fear so much as socialism is not what the post is about..

And I will add you sure as hell know nothing about scandinavian countries.

That seems a foolish comment. the united states has the most expensive health care on the planet.

every country with a national health plan has cheaper health care..

I would say no way could we increase the cost no matter what action we take..

But it is clear that something must be done..

Government produces NOTHING. It's survival depends on what government takes.
Healthcare is not a government issue, neither is charity or care for the welfare of its citizens.

If you don't think socialism is so bad, then you are free to leave this country and go and live in any socialist/communist state you choose. I'd choose North Korea if I were you. Then you'd have the best idea of what socialism is all about. Also you'd be taught about how bad the US is but then you already think that we're bad so you'd spend your time agreeing with them.

How bad will it be if America becomes a socialist country?
How bad will it be if America becomes a socialist country?

About as bad as in Canada, New Zealand or Germany. Look, this “America is becoming socialist” is a boogeyman you were conditioned to react to with fear by Republican propaganda. Nothing Democrats advocate will turn America into the Soviet Union or Venezuela.

Even if Bernie Sanders could enact all of his policies it would only mean that everybody would have affordable health care, that everybody could get a higher education without having to go into debt, and that everybody could actually live a humane life on the wages from one job.

Yes, there would be higher taxes for the wealthy, but health care and education would be cheaper and a lot of people would earn much better. The only people who would pay significantly more would be the really rich, the people who have built a fortune on other people’s misery. And they can easily afford it without having to forego anything.

Now, tell me, what would be so bad about this “socialism”? What are you scared of? Don’t let Republicans cheat you out of a humane life. They are filling their pockets by exploiting you. I would not have that if I were you.

So now you are openly advocating for Socialism in Amerika? I'm done with your posts. If you can't see the flaws in your "rationalization" your beyond comprehending an explanation. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

And why don't you go to a CPUSA, Weather Underground or Black Lives Matter meeting or something you like?

Your response is precisely what I mean. When push comes to shove, you're just like the rest of the progressives. You paint those who disagree with you with that broad tarnishing brush.

Hitler & Mussolini were socialists. They used planks in The Manifesto to buy oft the industrialists.

Hitler sent a letter of admiration to FDR. FDR's WPA was Hitler's inspiration to build the Autobahn.

FYI permafrost, I'm a libertarian if you know what the difference is.

Really? And you got this information where? Don't bother answering that second question, I KNOW where you got that information, and very little if anything they EVER say is true.

But hey, let's go ahead and assume what you are saying IS true, Does that mean America has been laboring under socialized medicine since the 80's? America has CONSISTENTLY had the highest health care costs since we took the lead in the 1980's, care to explain how bad socialized medicine is now? Why haven't these countries that switched to socialized medicine caught up to out health care costs? Why aren't they closing the gap?

Although Britons do have affordable access to primary-care doctors, and everyone in the UK is covered through high taxes, they are subjected to extensive waiting periods for specialists, surgeries and hospitalization. The fact is that many patients die waiting for treatment.

Canadians pay out-of-pocket health costs close to what Americans pay, yet Canada’s tax burden is 36 percent to 51 percent higher than America’s. These extra taxes are largely driven by government health care costs. Despite this tax burden, government rationing via “global budgets” leaves Canadians to face long waiting lists, shortages of equipment, outdated drugs, and endemic staff shortages. Meanwhile, Canada’s public system covers only marginally more than what the public system in the U.S. covers: One-third of health care spending in Canada is private; in the U.S., it is half.

But the NHS is no paradise. Open a random edition of a British daily newspaper and you will likely encounter an article about some egregious problem that the NHS has failed to solve. For example: NHS doctors routinely conceal from patients information about innovative new therapies that the NHS doesn’t pay for, so as not to “distress, upset or confuse” them; terminally ill patients are incorrectly classified as “close to death” so as to allow the withdrawal of expensive life support; NHS expert guidelines on the management of high cholesterol were intentionally not revised after becoming out of date, putting patients at serious risk in order to save money; when the government approved an innovative new treatment for blindness in elderly patients, the NHS initially decided to reimburse for the treatment only after patients were already blind in one eye — using the logic that a person blind in one eye can still see, and is therefore not that badly off; while most NHS patients expect to wait five months for a hip operation or knee surgery, leaving them immobile and disabled in the meantime, the actual waiting times are even worse: eleven months for hips and twelve months for knees (compared with a wait of three to four weeks for such procedures in the United States); one in four Britons with cancer is denied treatment with the latest drugs proven to extend life; those who seek to pay for such drugs on their own are expelled from the NHS system for making the government look bad, and are forced to pay for the entirety of their own care for the rest of their lives; and Britons diagnosed with cancer or heart attacks are more likely to die, and more quickly, than citizens of most other developed nations — Britain’s survival rates for these diseases are, according to an OECD survey, “little better than [those] of former Communist countries.”

Countries with government-run healthcare have been unable to contain the pandemic. If anything, the response of single-payer countries to this crisis shows the fatal flaws of the Medicare for All model.

Sanders claims that countries with socialized medicine are uniquely equipped to effectively contain a Coronavirus-style pandemic.

This would be news to people in countries with government-run healthcare.
