It's easy to say, "I don't like that guy, I'm voting for the other guy " every time you endure another political ad.

But there is power in your vote, and it's a shame to waste it by tossing it into the polluted stream of whichever ad annoys you less.

Don't fall for the crap that floats by in the main stream. Instead take a break and thoughtfully consider the big picture. Google "democratic platform "and "republican platform "and read through them. It's easy and interesting.

Then forget about the two candidates for a minute. It will feel good. And think about what you just read.

We live with a two party government that runs the country mostly according to what you just read, not just according to what the president says. Vote to support the party having the platform most agreeable to you, and your vote becomes a part of the country's foundation, and not just an opinion in a frivolous popularity contest.

And another thing you would do well to consider is that the issues addressed in a platform are not of equal importance. There can be trade-offs, boxes checked for this party and other boxes checked for that party, then what do you do? Tally the number of check marks for each of the two parties and go with the winner?

Or do you acknowledge the elephant in the room, the overarching issue that barely, if at all, is ever mentioned in this election process? It is the legal murder of 2000 babies every day which is clearly, strongly supported by only one of the two parties. An abomination so reprehensible that they try to hide it under the cloak of "reproductive health care ". Make no mistake about it, they are not only referring to birth control pills, pap smears and breast exams! And there is nothing healthy or caring about brazenly destroying the product of a man and a woman's reproductive act. Pregnancy is not a disease!

And you might say, "so what? It's legal, it's the mother's choice, and what the poor minority people do with their unfortunate lives is of little consequence to me. "

Well, from a purely scientific view abortion is the killing of a pre-born human being. You can call it a choice, a clump, some tissue, a fetus, the mother's body but don't lie to yourself- it is a human baby! A unique individual with unique DNA, from the moment of conception, not just an appendage of the mother.

From a secular humanist point of view abortion is all of that plus the loss of a person that may have contributed greatly to society. Or at least a person with innate value. We have legally murdered 35 million such people in the wake of Roe v Wade. And it's young people, the greatest consumers, that drive a strong economy. Consider all the clothing, food, toys, health care, homes, durable goods, entertainment, vehicles etc. not produced because every day there are 2000 fewer people added to the market than there should have been. A compounding progression- by now there should be 35 million more consumers than there are. This translates to a 20% increase in demand for goods and services in what is already a strong economy, temporarily subdued by pandemic.

And finally, what if we and the universe are more than just a super colossal coincidence of an almost infinite number of random things coming together in just the right, delicate way to form the reality in which we live? What if there is an intelligent design to it all? The great preponderance of evidence indicates this to be the case. And might that intelligent designer take issue with the wanton destruction of intelligent creation, namely, human beings? What if, at the end of our days, we must account for our actions? Again the preponderance of evidence indicates this to be the case. If you don't vote against abortion, how many murders will you have tacitly supported? Will you try to negotiate, to justify your support of all that carnage with your economic, foreign and domestic policy, and presidential intelligence and morality arguments?

Is abortion negotiable, just another check box in the party platform?

Do you want to take that chance?

Or does the elephant 🐘 in the room make the Democratic Platform null and void? Many of us vote Republican just for that reason!

The majority of contributors to One Political Plaza are conservative so they are mostly pretty safe on this issue. I'm hoping and praying that this article may influence and ultimately save some souls in the audience of 23,000 casual OPP readers who may not be aware of the elephant.

In the constitution, it says all men are created equal, "in context with what was going on with England at the time, it really doesn't mean what a lot of people today think; however, taken at its face value...every life is created equal, so why are you killing pre-born infants, why are you neglecting those born and letting them die, why are you beating your children, your spouses, why are you advocating assisted suicide?

Why are we allowing cities to disregard Federal law? As those citizens not supposed to be following the same laws that the rest of the nation follows? Why are we allowing persons to push an agenda that goes against the Constitution?

Why did we allow politicians to pass laws that the rest of us have to follow and they don't have to follow?

Hum, I've been trying to vote those in power out, didn't happen, but I try.

Now, I read the platforms and watched the actions and rhetoric of our leaders as they abuse our Republic. They need to be reminded that they are not "all that special," and we need new laws that strip away the "special" privileges they granted to themselves, or better yet nullify the laws that granted the special privilege in the first place. It will just be a little adjustment to existing law.

Pension, no pay greater than social security or a means test, pay raises--match social security highest allowed raise amount or even our military's raises, term limits, and oh, yes you do get speed tickets, parking tickets, and all the rest--just as if you are a regular member of our republic. You see you are "special," you just haven't gotten it yet, you are supposed to work for us, not line your pockets for yourself and your cronies. You were never meant to give your self privileges the rest of us don't have. You need to remember that "all men are created equal" thing.



Look at the results of political power and corruption. Listen to what they say, research what they have done. Vote!
