I have some good news and some bad news. The good news: 52 percent of Americans support Joe Biden in the FiveThirtyEight poll average. The bad news: 42 percent support President Trump. Why isn’t Trump losing by a whole lot more? How is it possible that so many still back him despite everything that has gone wrong?

Trump is on track to be the first president since World War II to see a net loss of jobs during his term. Even worse, he has presided over the loss of 214,000 lives and counting from covid-19. That’s already nearly four times the U.S. fatalities in the Vietnam War, previously the nadir of presidential bungling. Even now, after having contracted covid-19 himself, Trump refuses to take the pandemic seriously. He keeps promising it will magically disappear of its own accord while holding rallies practically guaranteed to spread the disease.

As if that weren’t reason enough to vote for Biden, there is also the fact that Trump has abused his power; he was even impeached for doing so. He has trafficked in racism and xenophobia. He has incited violence. He has kowtowed to dictators and trashed our alliances. He has welcomed Russian attacks on our elections. He has locked children in cages. He has called for his opponents to be locked up. In sum, Trump has made a strong case that he is the worst president in our history.

Yet tens of millions of voters still support him. What are they thinking? I get that there are single-issue voters to whom Trump has a strong appeal — people who feel passionately about tax cuts, judges, abortion or Israel. There are also people for whom Trump’s boorishness, racism and xenophobia are not a turnoff but a selling point. (Studies show that appeals to prejudice were the most important factor in Trump’s 2016 victory.)

There are also, of course, many Trump voters who are convinced that he is the lesser evil, because Biden is supposedly plotting to turn the United States into a “large scale version of Venezuela,” even while suffering from “dementia.” They claim Biden is a “puppet” of the far left, even though he opposes Medicare-for-all, the Green New Deal, a ban on fracking, defunding the police, expanding the Supreme Court and other progressive ideas.

The very fact that so many are so willing to believe such balderdash about Biden — a lifelong centrist who remains far more articulate and coherent than Trump — is a worrisome sign of how cut off from rational, factual discourse so much of the country has become. Many voters are still supporting Trump because they’re living in a hermetically sealed disinformation bubble that is impermeable to reality.

What part of Biden will not be the real president even if he wins don't you get? He is just a front man because Democrats know America would not vote for their real Marxist agenda.if he wins Biden will not last a full term and probably not even a year. Harris will be the president and America will see things happen they never thought possible. People support Trump because, even with his faults, he is all we have to protect us from the extreme Marxist left.

Liberty, I've said it before and I'll say it again, There are no Marxists that have any say in the Democratic Party. What policy that the Democrats pursue can be in any way Marxist? The one payer health plan is one that every industrialized western has. Is the UK marxist? Obama care is copied from a Republican plan first thought up by Mitt Romney. I hope that you don't consider social security marxist.

Does “a materialistic struggle, of the proletariat, against the bourgeoisie” sound familiar to you? It should. It’s what the Democrat Party is today. And, it’s the fundamental tenant of Marxism.

You really need to get your facts straight. TRUMP was not impeached because of abuse of power. You can't confuse democrats with true facts. Are you on the government dole? Sounds like you buy their platform.

Biden doesn't oppose medicare for all, the green new deal, or open borders. He is for gun confiscation, defunding the police, a ban on fracking, free college for everyone, banning free speech, and the packing of the Supreme Court. These are facts, read the democrats party platform, then get back to me.

The Democrat Socialist Progressives have highly abused their powers within all branches of our government. We saw it within the clinton, obama, bush administrations (included bush due to NWO objectives and goals); we see it within the legislative branch, congress; and we see it within the judicial system (we allow judges with their opinions to dictate outcomes over the welfare and wishes of the people)!

It’s a fiendish plan ending U.S. sovereignty for global domination. Nimrod was probably the first attempting this feat. Socialist Progressives must disrupt the family union; abandon any notion of God (God of the Bible); rock any foundation of moral principles and values; etc. to their conclusion.
They are doing a ‘hell of a job.’

How can Americans still support the worst president in our history?

Are we speaking of obama, carter, johnson, wilson or fdr as the worst president?
Probably obama having instituted the most divisive programs in our nation's history.
He left no stone unturned... tried turning neighbor against neighbor; promoted bigotry and racist policies; used government bureaucracies against the people; etc.

I am getting very tired of everybody putting President Trump down and at the same time saying how great Biden is. Anybody who has been listening to the news or reading what is on the internet knows that Biden won't be president for very long IF he wins (and if he does it will be by fraud). As soon as possible the 25th Amendment will be used to get rid of him thus making Harris the new president. Once that happens then chances are she will pick her VP from amongst these three women: Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama (although there is some doubt that 'she' is a woman). If Harris had any smarts at all she would find a mouse for her VP because the other three are strong women who are just itching for a chance to be president.

If Biden is so great then why is it that our enemies: Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia want him to win? And fear another Trump win? For all of you on the left, just think about that logically.

It's not the Republicans who are responsible for the unrest that plagued this nation during the summer and possibly even still now. The unrest is mainly in cities/states controlled by Demonrats. It's not the president who is responsible for the Chinese virus. It's the Chinese. They attacked us and the whole world.
