Sometimes you gotta stay up late to get the job done!!

My old Explorer started running rough, and I realized that I had neglected the air filter, and it needed changing.
So, rather than discuss the cost of a new filter with the bald ape (or is it ball and chain?) I elected to blow the old one out with compressed air, and run it through the dishwasher.
Should be good as new, right?

I just hope she doesn't open the dishwasher in the morning before I get up!

Well, don't tell her, but I do have a new one just in case this doesn't work. But if it does, I have a receipt, and can get a 6 pack (oops..I mean my money ) back-!

You do know how to cover all the bases, archie. I've noticed that about you. And, don't worry, I wouldn't tell your wife even if I knew her cuz I'm not that kind of gal .... but my guess is she knows anyway. If I were her, I would take it out, run the dishwasher, and then put it back in. But that's just me.

Sounds like you got away with it. Let us know how it works. Sometimes all that dish detergent doesn't get rinsed out, you know, and you could end up with your engine sudsing up ...

BTW, I envy you your old Explorer. I've had two. My last one lasted 13 years and I miss it terribly. Didn't want to give it up but one day it just died and that was it. Don't like the new ones at all.

Them Fords never die or fade away. My wife's favorite is our 92 year old one but my favorite is our 91 year old one. The neighborhood kids like the 91 year old because it has a rumble seat. Fun ride.

Your Fords might not have died away, but my dealings with the dealer maintenance is as bad as it gets. I wouldn't have a Ford product on a bet. I bought a new '91 Cougar. That dealer closed its doors not too long afterwards, so I used the Ford dealer, who took over the maintenance. Well I had a problem, the automatic safety belt (covered by warrantee, of course), that they (them and another) just couldn't get it right. They, their head maintenance guy, finally told me to go away and never come back.

My Brother had the same problem with his local Ford dealer and won't have a new ever again but does have some T's and I just sent him a '30 A. I can't work on them very well myself anymore but there is a mechanic at the local Ford Dealership who likes to work on mine if I supply the parts. Know one guy who leaves the keys in hkis T and sometimes someone will say to him, "You left the keys in your car. Someone will steal it." His reply is, "No they won't because they don't know how to drive it." Always can draw a crowd if I decide to crank start. Seems no one has ever seen that before except the old guys and for them it is nostalgia. I also tell the watchers that if I turn the crank five times the car will go five miles after it starts. Get some people who sit and think about that.

My dad drove a '29 A mostly to work (on a dairy) and sometimes to town. When my brother and I rode with him, brother sat on the passenger side front fender (under headlight) and I rode on the driver's side and sometimes with the our semi-large dog stretching down to the running board. Where the rumble seat used to be, he had a bed/wooden frame, sorta like a very short bed pickup full of tools, etc. (late 40s and early 50s)
