(First, let me note that woman who has been taking hydroxychloroquine for 19 years to treat Lupus has caught COVID-19; she's pissed at Trump. Second, most of the testing of this drug shows it is a danger for those with underlying medical problems; one of the side-effects is death.)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Republican congressman from Kansas says he has been taking a malaria drug being touted by President Donald Trump as a way to protect against the coronavirus, despite warnings that it could have potentially fatal side effects.
U.S. Rep. Roger Marshall, who is running for the U.S. Senate, said he doesn’t have COVID-19 but is taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventative drug. His parents, siblings and wife also are taking the drug, a spokesman for Marshall told the Kansas City Star on Tuesday.
“I would encourage any person over the age of 65 or with an underlying medical condition to talk to their own physician about taking hydroxychloroquine and I’m relieved President Trump is taking it,” Marshall reportedly told the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the congressman’s use of the drug.
Trump said Monday that he has been taking the drug and a zinc supplement for more than a week. His decision comes despite guidance from health officials in his administration that the drug should be administered only in hospital or research settings.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration last month warned doctors not to prescribe hydroxychloroquine to treat the coronavirus outside of hospitals or research settings because of reports of serious side effects, including irregular heart rhythms and death among patients. Preliminary results from a study done on coronavirus patients at U.S. veterans hospitals showed no benefit, casting more doubt on the drug’s efficacy during the pandemic.
Marshall, though, has defended the use of the drug, saying previously that “in many cases, patients have a lot to gain and little to lose if they consider taking it.”

I can’t be bothered to haul out the citations to post here - but I have been following this topic in a wide variety of publications and I am convinced the treatment is save and effective. The heart palpitations that some have reported comes from the Zithromycin antibiotic, not the HCL, and is rare in any event.
Quit spouting the fear porn touted by the Dems. Most people already see through it as a mechanism to further harm the economy. The Dem party will never recover from the Blue State governors who got their rocks off on playing dictator.

I will stop "spouting the fear porn touted by the Dems" if you follow the news. Recent studies prove it is a danger to COVID-19 patients and not an inoculation against getting it.

Few actually believe Trump is taking that drug anyway.

In your first paragraph I don't understand about the woman who hates Trump? What does taking a medicine have to do with the President anyway? Also it is a fact that all births eventually lead to death, so what is the deal there?
I just went back and reread the paragraph. Maybe she took that medicine so long it quit working for her. My doctor changes my medicines sometimes and they don't always work. Don’t worry we will all get to cross the Rivers Styx and Acheron, it is preordained.

Side note to your side note........ I take several medications that say a possible side effect is death. Listen to TV commercials for all the drugs that say a side effect includes possible death. Don't be dumb.

Since 1998, drug ads on TV have increased 850%. After listening to all the side effects, for most of them I'd rather be sick and take my chances.
