President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell address is famous for his prophetic warning about the military-industrial complex: “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”

Eisenhower’s warning is often repeated but has gone mostly ignored, as has another observation from the same speech. Warning that scientists dependent on government contracts and grants might cripple scientific breakthroughs, Eisenhower said “public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

Eisenhower put his warning in context: “Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields.”

“In the same fashion,” Eisenhower continued, “the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity.”

“Scientific research and discovery” should be held in “respect” Eisenhower said. Yet he foresaw, “The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.”

The long and the short of it is glaringly obvious~~

Our ruling class and their TV mouthpieces Have and are whipping up fear over this virus... They can afford an indefinite shutdown, working Americans can't, they'll be crushed by it, but the “ elitist of criminal hill will still be in office” .. Short lived come November but still unscathed financially!!

The left-wing media’s methods are so transparent,” rightttt... “1. Pressure Fauci to criticize @realDonaldTrump in interviews. 2. Hope this leads to a blowup. 3. Slam Trump for not listening to doctors. 4. Blame him for everything...
Gotten very old at this point they need a new script, like a broken record they are and people are fed up with their lies!!

Are you ready for the second wave they now claim is coming???

Yes, he was one smart guy!!! I am continually reminded of this as I read his bibliography. It is one of the longest books I have read. I am in the final 100 pages. He enforced the constitution that is for sure. At a times of great civil unrest, busing still occurred.

He also pulled the US out of the Korean conflict...which I am grateful for. My father had to be in that war. Mandatory service for all men of a certain age...... I don't believe he has fond memories.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell address ... (show quote)

American, Eisenhower warned about connections between the military brass and the defense industry. The CDC is the government agency with the most knowledge of this terrible disease that is causing so much suffering and death. Trump doesn't like what they say, because he is far more worried that a lousy economy would be bad for his reelection chances, than he is by the deaths of another hundred thousand American deaths.

I'd say that people like you are much more afraid he's going to win than HE is concerned about losing.

nwtk. I'm not going to lie to you. I honestly believe that he is the most psychologically, unfit person to ever in the history of the republic be President. Although I am a proud FDR-JFK liberal, I do not oppose him as vigorously as I do because of his conservative ideology, but for his behavior, and a few of his unhinged policies. At the moment, Trump is behind Biden eight points. I've heard this is due to the loss of some very worried seniors. I think that all Trump thinks about is getting reelected, not the constitution, the rule of law, the people, or the republic itself.

Putting Trump aside - Eisenhower's warning was prophetic.

The Public Health Service is what gave the Tuskegee Airmen syphilis without telling them so they could observe what happens without treatment. The CDC started out as a branch of the Public Health Service. You tell me....has the nature of man changed so that they would no longer do such things? Why should anyone put blind trust in the CDC?

Think on this for a moment:
>>The CDC is part of the 'government agency' that Eisenhower warned about.
>>None of the predictions about 'hundreds of thousands of death' have been right. The 'models' were being changed weekly.
>>And the lousy economy? Look at the impact it has had. What is the potential down the road for deaths and harm there?

Your thoughts?

I'll agree, his behavior and the things he says is worrisome but I'll stick with how he is performing on issues, etc, not how he appears.

As for polls, I have always said they are for dancers and that Trump supporters are notorious for not participating in polls.
