Hello from Eastern Oregon

Good Morning I am Barbara Wright, from Pendleton, Oregon. I am a Democrat in a Red district and I am a somewhat progressive, somewhat moderate and rarely conservative Democrat who is running for the house from my district with the hopes of uniting the state. I am sick and tired of Oregon being divided by the cascade mountains and Eastern Oregon being the part that gets the shaft. lesser wages, poorer roads and less economic development because we don't have the housing available to house prospective workers. I also do research for vets and I am acutely aware that our government isn't telling the truth during the COVID pandemic.

Welcome...

Strong opinions well worded... Look forward to hearing more from you...

I think Coos Bay Tom is from Oregon too... Perhaps you should Pm him... He's also an elected official and I would love to read a few threads with the two of you on them....

Don't worry about the hazing to come... It's sort of ritual from the right side of the forum...

I really miss Eastern Oregon, I lived in Idaho Falls ID....miss that Columbia Gorge drive through the mountains.

The government can only give as much details as the states do, and the cities ...and everything in-between.

They gloss over drug abuse, in the same way....this is just standard operating procedures because everyone likes to say: "not in my town".

Our president is tone deaf, and only trained to white wash everything-I used to work for someone like that, guy didn't have a clue until they forced him out of the organization and he actually had to make the hard decisions...all of sudden the facts were a lot more important.

Hello barbara97801,
I am a conservative, rarely if ever liberal. However, that does not mean that I won't read and respect your posts. It takes two sides to debate and we fit that bill exactly. Welcome to OPP. Since you are involved in politics, you probably already have a 'tough skin', if not, you'll get one here (big grin). Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to you, looking forward to reading your thoughts. I really hope you will show as much respect for the conservative posters and our viewpoint as we are showing for you.

barbara97801... If you mean you've found prospective workers have not moved to your part of Oregon, your problem is with real estate investors who, for whatever reason, can see the need for housing and don't do anything about it... Not building when there is demand is plain stupid... Being a Local Town Council Member would be more effective than a Federal Congress Member in getting local investors to build... And you should be openly advising your current Reps what needs to be done for Vets rather than waiting to be in Congress...

Where big business is located determines where State resources are allocated, this is true everywhere in the Union. This paradigm is easily explained - very little money is given to lawmakers and bureaucrats from outlying cities and towns. It's about the money, it's ALWAYS about the money.

Welcome aboard!
