This has happened before. A nation was in crisis, a politician was elected to lead the country. He said he could solve their problems, but only if he had absolute power for 5 years, then he would return power to the people. He lied. It cost 50-60 million dead to stop Hitler. This is why it is so important to know history. If we go down this path we may never recover our freedom.

We've seen this kind of ploy played out many times throughout history......................while folks are focused on a tragedy, the PTB use the distraction to disappear political rivals, naysayers, truth tellers and everyone else who might be in the way of consolidating power.

I said at the time look at the issue from two sides. In regards to the Patriot Act, ask yourself, would you trust Bush with the power? Bush supporters would say yes, but they didn't ask themselves the second question, would you trust Hillary with that same power? They would have said no. If you can't trust both sides with the power, then you can't trust either side with it. Look what happened in Germany in the 1930's. Hitler was fairly elected to office, then said he needed full power for 5 years then he would return power to the people, in order to save Germany from its problems. Those of us who know history know how that turned out.

You completely missed what Rand was talking about, he is concerned about Barr taking on expanded powers during this pandemic. Do you even know what expanded powers he is talking about? He thinks that the DOJ should be able to forego all due process and just hold people without any, for an indeterminate period. This is an expansion of a police state, not a deep state.

This you just pointed out is the problem that the political division and bias is creating. People are allowing their side to do what they definitely have a problem with the other side doing. Cleaning it up takes an unbiased look at your own side.

It takes people who are willing to look at both sides to educate the ones who only look at their own side. We may disagree on details but we agree on the big picture of what's right for the country. If you surround yourself with only yes men, you may never find the best solution to a problem. If you are in charge, your advisors need to speak freely and frankly in private. Once a decision is made, all need to be on the same page publicly.
