I'd say it's both those points. And yeah man, we're all just trying to keep each other clean around here in the good ol Evergreen state.

I hope I don't get it, cos it's a death sentence for me if I do lol

Yes, and it's also the place where a postal worker who worked at a distribution center for *all of Seattle* got it as well :(

Our healthcare system, under ovommitcare, really does $UCK. The reason is, it is not healthcare but is "sick care". The whole system needs revamped with a new model of "health care" orientation and not "sick care" orientation. Implementation of strategies to keep one from getting ill and staying healthy should be the model. Those not adhering to the model would pay much higher premiums.

So you're saying, we'd all have to eat our veggies from now on, huh?

And say what you will about ObamaCare, but it let me, someone with a preexisting health condition who couldnt get coverage before, be able to see a specialist. Not a perfect system, but yeah

Brilliant?

Sounds like more interference from the government...

Who gets to decide what the model would be?

Y know I was talking about this with someone on another topic, but I think it's a blurry line. If the ISP debacle has taught us anything, it's that having a corporation decide who covers what (the opposite of Gov healthcare) would be a recipe for disaster. So who knows

Good morning Penny,

You have a mix of valid and useless opinion this morning..

Yes, for a very long time, back to the 20th century we have been told how germ invested money is.. most germ packed item we touch near every day..

But you seem to have a very incorrect understanding of how and why Sanctuary cities came to be. and what they are about..

back to the days, the refusal was local law did not have the resources to do the job that was to be the responsibility of federal law men..

While very much of the offences were only misdemeanors and resulted in a $200 fine or so. the feds tended to leave the culprits in the local slammer rather then spend many $$ to collect the petty cash from the criminal.

So the local law said go to Heck.. and stopped doing the work of others.. that has evolved to what we have this day and place..

And yes, we all detest the act of adding to a must pass bill. done at every level from township to federal.

but, how much do you shout when the Republicans do the same? It is far from a one side action..

Perhaps I do have a "mix of valid and useless opinion this morning." at least a part of my opinion is valid unlike your unresearched babble.

How Sanctuary cities started does not matter, what does matter is they are a reality and those cities have to take total responsibility for those people they encourage to take up residence on their streets. Street "camping' encourage disease. You did not even attempt to respond to this fact.

Then you accuse me of me of not being displeased when republicans tack BS to bills. This means that you think the 'house" has always been and always will be be owned by democrats. This is pure hopeful thinking on your part....and if you read, or are able to understand what you read.....go back and read what I said "The House seem to use every bill to get their pet legislation passed. I think bills should never have "add on" or unrelated request for funding." Did I say a Democrat or Republican "House"? No....

So prove me wrong on either case I made....but, don't pretend intellectual superiority by babbling nonsense or adding into my comment to make it political.

Yes, they don't think of that. Something last night that I found ludicrous was "Do you think China made the virus to get rid of the dissenters?" China is barbaric, they killed the doctor who found the virus so no, if they wanted to get rid of the dissenters AR-15s or their weapons would be used. Now using it to take out the rest of the world since China has a dominate the world by 2035 timeline would make sense in a skewed way. Obviously many would still be alive, but less so they could take over easier. Today I saw one that was just as out there to me WE created it and Bill Gates is starring in the show so to speak. He'd be hung by his heels, but it isn't true. I did see another that was 'well maybe.' In short it said with all the shortages in supermarkets and other stores, what was wrong with becoming a prepper years ago? Personally, I saw nothing wrong. Others saw it as tin foil hats, we were expecting an apocalypse. Some of the fanatics did, I just went in to be prepared like when I was snowed in.

I just had a nurse visit me today. Usually I find those visits intrusive but this okay. It only took a few minutes and I was cleared of Coronavirus, my wife too. And she told me the hospital has a separate clinic for those who think they are infected so our healthcare is okay.

Allow me to put some perspective on this. Maybe some finger pointing is necessary.

In early 2009, the Swine flu outbreak in Mexico spread into the US (Go figure). Here is a brief look at that pandemic:

1. The flu strain responsible for the outbreak — influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 — originated in Mexico and was first detected in America in April 2009.

2. The strain represented a unique combination of influenza viruses never before seen in humans or animals.

3. The virus quickly spread globally, primarily affecting children and adults under 65 who lacked immunity to H1N1.

4. The WHO declared the swine flu outbreak a pandemic on June 11, 2009.

5. Between April 12, 2009, and April 10, 2010, the CDC estimates swine flu caused 60.8 million illnesses (1/5th of the US population), 273,304 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths in the U.S.

6. On Oct. 5, 2009, the U.S. began administering a newly approved H1N1 vaccine to select Americans - pregnant women, people who live with or care for babies under six months old, children six months to four years old and health-care workers. Vaccination coverage expanded nationwide by that December.

7. WHO declared an end to the pandemic on Aug. 10, 2010.

8. Globally, an estimated 151,700 to 575,400 people died from swine flu in the first year of the pandemic. It is estimated that 11–21% of the then global population (of about 6.8 billion), or around 700 million–1.4 billion people, contracted the illness.

Six months after the swine flu first appeared in the United States, on October 24, 2009, President Obama declared swine flu a national emergency.

The media (and politicians) treated the swine flu pandemic like it was a bad case of fleas. They issued warnings and instructions, but left out the fear mongering and the POLITICS.

Currently, CDC, WHO and Johns Hopkins CSSE are reporting just over 150,000 cases of Coronavirus infections world wide. 74,000 have fully recovered and there are currently around 5900 deaths.

No doubt COVID-19 is a serious matter, no doubt it will spread before it either runs its course or is stopped by an effective vaccine, but the spread of this thing has less to do with its virulence than with the political polarization that now exists.

There are many among us, some here on OPP, who actually hope this coronavirus will be so devastating that it will be the final nail in president Trump's coffin. The American left has once again found themselves a political weapon. They absolutely love victims as political pawns. In the long term, the Viral Hatred for one man is far more dangerous to our way of life than is a virus that can eventually be beaten.

Pull together? That's a sweet pipe dream. We are no longer dealing with Republican/Democrat party policy differences, we are dealing with the forces of an ideological movement that is diametrically opposed to the founding principles of our American nation. No bridge has ever been built nor will ever be built that can span that abyss.
Allow me to put some perspective on this. Maybe so... (show quote)

I agree with you and honestly don't want to make concessions. I've made a few, only to have them thrown back in my face, so they are on their own with me.

Lt,

I think this virus was made in a lab. I do not think it was intentionally released, but it hitched a ride. I expect that we will see the new infection rate to almost flatline by the end of this month and show up again next winter. By then there should be a treatment. My thought, everyone should have at least 3 weeks of staples on hand all the time!

I would have thought it would have been reported on the news stations you were watching; of the 31 reported deaths, 26 were residents of a nursing home in Washington state and their average age was 80. Now take 457 total infected and divide by the 5 deaths that were not 80 year old nursing home residents and you get a death rate of about 1%, in line with most recent estimates in other countries.
