I would not rely on Mr. Paul, or any government official, to tell me why the constitution was written. The purpose is contained in the document itself:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

That's what it says now what does it mean to you? Can you show me all the new "rights" progressived have found in the old constitution?

We the people decide what rights are in the document....says so in the opening three words. The more the merrier. Rights have been gained by more and more folks from the time it was ratified. Rights used to be limited to land holding white men. Not so anymore. Many more rights have been established for all kinds of groups and individuals. And yes, that is progress.

I don't pay much attention to Rand Paul.....I don't think he ever knows where he stands on anything.
Only that it's against what someone else stands for.
