Schiff caught ‘mischaracterizing’ text exchange between Giuliani and Parnas: report
January 24, 2020 by Ben Marquis

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) — lead House manager in the impeachment trial, head of the House impeachment inquiry, and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee — clearly has a troubled relationship with the truth.

It looks like Schiff has, yet again, been caught misrepresenting basic facts to better fit his anti-Trump narrative, Politico reported.
Schiff’s account

Ahead of the start of the Senate impeachment trial, Schiff sent a letter to fellow House manager Jerry Nadler (D-NY) that included select text messages between Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and one of his associates, Lev Parnas, which Schiff purported to be evidence of an attempt to set up a meeting between Giuliani and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The text in question was part of a broader exchange that was largely redacted and read, from Parnas to Giuliani, “trying to get us mr Z,” which Schiff presumed to mean Zelensky.

In his letter to Nadler, Schiff, citing that specific text, stated as fact, “Mr. Parnas continued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky.”
The rest of the story…

However, Politico somehow obtained an unredacted version of the exchange of text messages — which have yet to be released by Schiff — and quite charitably noted that Schiff had “mischaracterized” the nature and subject of that particular message from Parnas to Giuliani.

As it turns out, based on a clear review of the context of the surrounding messages in the exchange, “Mr. Z” wasn’t President Zelensky at all, but rather was almost certainly a reference to a Ukrainian oligarch named Mykolas Zlochevsky, founder of Burisma Holdings, the corrupt Ukrainian energy firm that employed Hunter Biden on its board while Joe Biden was vice president and which sits at the very heart of the impeachment effort against President Trump.

Additional texts in the exchange, including a Word document detailing notes of an interview as well as a message from Parnas stating “mr Z answers my brother,” strongly infer that Parnas and Giuliani were discussing a meeting with Zlochevsky, not Zelensky.

In other words, either Schiff and his staff were grossly incompetent in assuming the “Mr. Z” was in reference to President Zelensky without doing due diligence to verify as much, or they deliberately lied about who “Mr. Z” actually was in the text exchange in order to bolster their narrative that Giuliani and Parnas were up to no good in Ukraine.
More Schiff…

The Daily Caller noted that Giuliani has been upfront about the fact that he, with the help of Parnas and others, has been scouring Ukraine for evidence of alleged corruption involving the Bidens — which isn’t illegal — so evidence of a meeting and interview with the head of Burisma shouldn’t seem out of the ordinary at all.

As for Schiff’s “mischaracterization” of the text messages between Parnas and Giuliani, this is just the latest example of how he has played fast and loose with facts and the truth when it comes to President Trump and his associates.

Whether it be his claims of secret evidence proving Russian collusion, his alleged leaks to the media about the same subject, his disavowal of knowing the so-called “whistleblower” on Ukraine when it has been shown that his staff coordinated with that individual, or even his “parody” version of Trump’s July 2019 phone call with Zelensky, the only thing Schiff has proven is that he is untrustworthy and a liar.

I don't know if you watched, but when I watched the start of the opening statements from Trump's defense team earlier today (Saturday) One of the first things they did was play the tape of Schiff's "parody" speech for everyone who was watching. It was crystal clear that he was lying through his teeth for most of it.

Two things I took away from this morning's arguments: (1) The House did not call a full floor vote to gain the authority to issue subpoenas and to proceed with impeachment hearings. Because of this the "subpoenas" were invalid. As a result Trump's lawyers took the issue to court for their validity to be decided before they honored the subpoenas. When the Democrats saw that the administration was going to take the subpoena issue to court, they backed down and withdrew their "subpoenas" because they knew they were invalid; and (2) President Trump was clearly not offered due process during their one-sided hearings. Due process means facing your accuser, being able to cross examine the witnesses the prosecution brings to the hearings, being represented by your own counsel at the hearings, and being able to call your own witnesses. The defense team read statements from both Schiff and Nadler who said several years ago during Clinton's and Nixon's impeachment hearings that THAT is what they believed due process was supposed to be - especially in the very serious case of impeachment.

Today was more like a rebuttal of the things Schiff and Nadler are accusing Trump of, and it was only two hours long. On Monday I think they are going to start presenting their own case, which will most likely show just what pathological liars both Schiff and Nadler are. Schiff is very sly...I think Nadler is more on the stupid side.

Let's just hope that the Presidents legal team makes sure that the American people get this information so
They can understand who the criminals really are Nat that they will stoop to new lows to try and get this president removed from office. This all started the day he was elected.

the whole world knew, except Schiff and Nadler and the crooks in the Ukraine.

If Andy Kaufman was still alive, he could play Schiff in the Biopic comedy One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest. The resemblance is eerie.
