He voiced those orders from the deep hole in the ground where he is presently hiding.

Along with a long list of would be terrorist leaders who hightailed it to a safe space after seeing Soleimani blown to smithereens......lol.

Maybe he's always dreamed about going out with a bang.

Well, in his case, a boom!.

And then what?

If we pull our troops out of the ME, all of our military intelligence assets will come with them, and any other intelligence sources remaining will be seriously ham strung - CIA stations will shut down, case officers and field agents will be withdrawn or sent to embassies, indigenous operatives will be cut loose and on their own. We will then have to rely upon whatever intel foreign allies are willing to share. We will be getting 2nd and 3rd hand information which, due to the volatility of the ME and the speed in which situations change, will be worthless. We pull our military and intelligence assets out of there and we will have no clue what's going on, and we will not able to access immediate actionable intelligence with which to nip an emerging problem in the bud or even target and take out a terrorist leader.

In his epic The Art of War, Sun Tsu wrote: “He who knows the enemy and knows himself will never in a hundred battles be at risk. This is the raison d'être of modern intelligence agencies.

We have so much of everything tied up in the middle east. The only reason most of those countries have the infrastructure they have is cuz we provided it to them between 1945 and 1973. Then, in Iran, the ayatollahs took over and reneged on every deal we had with them for repayment. It just seems there needs to be a better answer than to keep pouring blood and treasure into that cesspool.....

Trump obviously feels the same way, which is why he's doing what his predecessors should have done a long time ago: showing them what can happen to their key people and assets, with zero risk to Americans, if they mess with us.

That's pretty much all those people understand, and once they get the message that we're no longer going to tolerate their attacks but instead slam them back "disproportionately" hard, they will become more circumspect.

Look at that face-saving, tepid missile attack the Iranians launched in response to their general's demise, first informing the Iraqis whom they knew would tell our people, it was coming. And the "missiles" were actually Katyusha rockets, field artillery weapons, launched from square, multitube launchers once nicknamed "Stalin organs," as common in war-torn third world shitholes as RPGs. They weren't any kind of advanced weaponry.

The last thing they wanted was to kill any gringos, because they knew that the force of Trump's retaliation would be like a sledge hammer responding to a spitball attack. They were just showing their own people that they were "hitting back," though pitifully.

They may continue attacking us through proxies as usual, but again, Trump's response will put a stop to that very quickly, without risking any of our own blood and treasure.
