"Until today, Jessica Kwong was a political reporter for Newsweek. More specifically, it was her job to keep an eye on the Trump administration, the Trump family, and the 2020 race for president. This week, however, she was fired. The reason? On Thanksgiving Day, she published an article in which she claimed that the president and first lady planned to spend the holiday golfing, tweeting, "and more" some such. Sadly for her, President Trump secretly flew to Afghanistan, where he met the troops (and served them turkey)."
The trip was kept secret for security reasons. The white house had previously announced The President would spend the weekend in Florida.

Why are you intent in making it sound as though she didn’t lie?

She based her story on a white house announcement.

That’s an excuse for posting fake news?

uncertain? are you criticizing the part that she was fired ? or supporting the firing ? as I read it , it seemed to be a cut against the President . then he tricked them all and went to Afghanistan .

It was not fake news. The President went to Florida as announced, then departed secretly to Afghanistan. The secrecy is understandable. He returned to Florida. The firing seems unfair to me. If it had been reported he was going to the war zone there would have been criticism endangering the President

It reflects poorly on Newsweek's management. The White House and the reporter are both, not guilty which is different from being innocent. They both did their jobs. Whoever fired the reporter should be the one getting the ax. I think someone in management passed the blame.

That's certainly possible...
Or they could just admit that they weren't in the loop and reported accordingly...

True...but there are other scenarios so I wonder...
where can I find this "announcement"? It's possible Trump and team might have done a little more than troll a Newsweek "reporter".

There's more to it, my spidey senses tell me.
This smells to me like Trump may have used his planned-on but secret plan to visit the troops to
plug an annoying leak. I wonder which insider
she may have been doinking.
Q said to pay attention to people who resign, quit, get fired, decide not to run, etc. and Sessions
did begin a bunch of leak investigations...27. Or was it 37? Anyway, it was a bunch.
I wonder if this might be related in some way to the conversation Barr had with Murdoch the day before Shep Smith resigned. I wonder who might have been talking to
him.

Newsweek, a day or two before Thanksgiving is most likely.

They were in the loop but the WH put out a different schedule on purpose to cover for the President going to Afganistan on Thanksgiving. All who had a need to know knew. Newsweek and its reporter didn't have a need to know. The End! Except they fired someone because they had come out with a different story saying President Trump was golfing at Key Largo. Then they updated the headline by adding a -(dash) "and visiting the troops in Afganistan" and got called out on it. A big to-do about nothing.
The patriots are watching and waiting to pounce on all MSM stories that are inaccurate or false. This time it was an honest mistake and it cost someone their job.
