Since holidays are around the corner, what are your holiday traditions that you treasure?? For myself I remember when I was little we would decorate Christmas tree (in Russia they used to call them evergreen trees) for New Year's celebration!! New Year used to be the biggest holiday in Russia with Evergreen trees and decorations all over the streets!! And on New Year's day my parents used to take to the Kremlin for New Year show with Santa Claus (in Russia Ded Moroz) and his granddaughter Snow Maiden (Snegurochka) And since next day was my birthday we would call all my friends to celebrate at home with presents and everything!! Oh how I miss these days!!!!!!So what was your holiday traditions??? HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!!!

My grandparents had a small ranch in northern New Mexico. We would go up there for Christmas and I remember waking up, it would be freezing so we would throw our clothes on and run into the kitchen where grandma would have the woodburning stove lit and warming the room up. Bacon and eggs cooked on a woodburning stove can't be beaten. All that's gone now but the memories are still there and strong as ever...

You're so cute,Proud...Mom was a child when they fled impending communism in Finland, early 1940's. I didn't realize the deep effect that had on her until we ( my brother and sisters )saw her weeping on Christmas. She cried because she never thought she'd see such abundance, and Freedom. Her father was taken at gunpoint into "mother russia" to work as an engineer. Seven years they kept him. He came home on some kind of work-release,and they ran like hell.
God Bless America.

Childhood wasn't a wonderful time around the holidays, so no amazing traditions.
My family has created some wonderful traditions. One of my favorites is Christmas cookies. My kids and I did them together to give as gifts, and now I do it with the grandchildren every year. This year we're doing "ninjabread" cookies something new my oldest grandson saw online

Nice!

We always had sausage and eggs Christmas morning and an aunt and uncle always joined us. They were both single and managed to visit all the neices and nephews on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

We always decorate the tree on Thanksgiving.
My mom always made all different kinds of homemade candy.
We had tons of peppermint, fruit, and Christmas candy.
Being from Texas, we also would put a tumbleweed Christmas tree some where.
When I was little, we went to the movies so Santa could come.
We opened gifts of Christmas Eve and then went to my grandmother's Christmas day.
I never did figure out how she managed to cook that much food.
After I got married we did Chinese Christmas.
It's fun if you have a lot of people.
We set a price limit for a gift.
Everybody brings one.
It can be nice or goofy.
Everybody picks a number from one to however many are there.
Number one picks a gift out of the pile.
Number two can take number one's gift or choose one from the pile.
This continues and sometimes it can take forever because of the one gift everyone steals from the one that has it.
