Glad to hear it Arch

Oddly, despite the tariffs, wages have continued to grow over here as well

Lets us see if I can translate what you said into English.

That said, if trump is telling the truth that China's economy is much worse than the U.S economy, and that China is paying billions and billions and billions of dollars into the treasury, the question becomes why should trump ever end his tariffs on China, in fact why not increase both the rate of tariffs and expand the number of products affected by the trump tariffs.

In a few years or less, trump could bankrupt China, and lower taxes here even further. And pay down the ever increasing trump monthly deficit and ever increasing national debt. "

Your premise seems to be that if Trump's tariffs are working and increasing them should magnify their effects on China. Also since Trump is not increasing his tariffs, that in your mind means they are not working.

Tariffs are a blunt instrument. They hurt both us and China. It is just that China is hurt more. Increasing them would hurt China even more, but that must be balanced against the increased harm to the US. Sometimes Trump has done what you have requested. When China has back slid, Trump has increased the Tariffs. It is a measured response. You advocate a more aggressive strategy, otherwise Trump's strategy doesn't work, according to you. You are wrong. You are always wrong.

Unlike you I can and do give detailed answers. Why don't you try it sometime ?

That's a very good point woodguru... Certainly, the economic policies under Trump defy all logic. He's been claiming credit for the recovery that started under Obama but now that Trump has been in office for three years the economy is starting to show signs of suffering under the most retarded economic policies this country has ever seen.

Odd things going on in China. They started forced depopulation with the one-child policy, then cracked down on the freedom to worship as you please, then started rounding up Muslims into re-education camps.

The Chinese people are mostly law-abiding peaceful people. But like all governments with total control, they end up going too far. Forced abortions, squelching private worship, and imprisoning minority segments of society against their will? All China is doing is stirring up the nation against itself.

Hong Kong watches all this and says no way are you ruling over us. Time for China to do some changing for a change.

Then they got the African Swine Flu Virus and had to purchase hogs from the USA. Recently three people have died of the plague or black death. What happens if they decide to blame the US for everything and accuse us of using germ warfare. To keep their power over the people, of course, they would.

But who sold them the tech to spy on everyone? You could say the USA and be right, or you could say Google, IBM, and the other tech giants who are spying on us here at home and for the exact same reasons as China is doing it, money and control. I believe Revelation is drawing nearer where soon no one can buy or sell or eat without taking the mark of the beast. Moving all money into bit-coins is electronic money and in a nanosecond could all disappear from your account. The wild hog trap is almost complete. When it is, our only choice is to obey or die and most will die and the NWO is behind it all. It's why I believe the NWO is Satanic.

I also believe this is President Trump's goal. To destroy the NWO, the Fed or banksters, and return to the gold standard. The US started out without taxes and relied on tariffs to fund the government and all our coins were mandatory either gold or silver. It seems that is what Trump is up to, restoring the power back to the people and away from the NWO. Conservative judges, the rule of law, and honest money.

But if "we the people" don't pray and repent God will allow it all to happen. We have to stop killing our children with abortion, believing there are more than two sexes and stop being a nation of perverts and open borders or we are toast. And time is running out. All the left is doing is stalling for time and blocking the change we need, every way they can. We have met the enemy and it is us. Never turn in your weapons. Food prices will go up next year due to floods this year. Earthquakes and volcanos are increasing around the world and Jesus's arms are still open wide and He is still calling, come to me. I want to protect you as a mother hen protects her chicks, but they wouldn't listen.

I'd hate to think this could be our last real Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it could be. None of us know when our hearts will beat for the last time. The next time you open your eyes is Judgement Day. We are eternal beings and have been since God breathed into Adam's nostrils. Sadly, most of us will end up in the pit, according to the Word of God. No one escapes Judgment Day and all debts will be paid in full.

Just my opinion.

Actually, they DO have a plan. In fact they have several. We can't help it if your special media doesn't cover that. I mean, I get it... Letting you know anything about plans that Democrats have to cut the deficit doesn't help the "Democrats are bad, Republican good" delusion.

The problem with these plans is that Republicans refuse to work with the Democrats so it's up to the voters to put more Democrats in office so they can have the super majorities to push past the Republican barricade and start making America great again.

The mid-terms are showing us a pattern where this may already be happening. Republicans are losing seats, even in the red states. I think the people are getting tired of the smoke and mirrors.

Think about this before you blame Trump. SSA and Medicare, according to USA Today, has a significant roll to play. Not to mention Congress(specifically democrat controlled house and no desire to change funding of debt to give more free stuff)

Woody, you and Nofactsjustfiction sound like Dumb and Dumber. Neither of you know what you are talking about. The Fed used quantitative easing for nearly eight long years, through QE, QE2, QE3, and QEForever. The peak hit $85 billion in T-bill and T-bond purchases per month under QEForever. The recession was over years before that, the late QEs were only setting us up for inflation down the road without doing anything for the current economy. That was a tremendous amount of T-bonds and T-bills that needed to be unwound carefully to avoid driving up interest rates. The great unwind has been proceeding for nearly three years, and it has had a negative effect on the economy. The big news hit the street this past summer that the yield curve went negative. And that has ALWAYS been a red light warning of impending recession. The Fed understands that and is acting to ease the negative impact of the great unwind, lest they push us into recession.

And then there is Nofactsjustfiction's rant about tariffs on China. Chinese businesses pay their workers 25 cents on the dollar compared with American union wages. So China can produce goods and ship them to America far cheaper than American factories can. Furthermore, China limits imports from America, and some goods are banned completely. This makes for a very unfair playing field. The purpose for Trump's tariffs are two-fold. First, they increase the price of Chinese goods coming to America, which gives American-made goods a better chance to compete. Second, they force China's hand to remove limits on imports of American goods to their country. The tariffs hurt China's business, and they are feeling it. Trump is a top notch negotiator; he is using their tariff pain to gain the removal of import limits on American goods. So don't be confused by on-again and off-again tariffs. Trump is negotiating more business and more jobs for American workers. We should all be thanking him, not ridiculing him.

Answer the simple question as to who is paying the the 'billions and billions of dollars' into the treasury.

And with the tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, why are US steel mills not running at capacity

And why does Japan get a pass on tariffs, since they impose massive tariffs on certain US products

That's not how tariffs work. In fact it's the opposite. In very simple terms, a tariff *is* a tax hike on American consumers purchasing Chinese imports. So the Chinese do NOT pay those tariffs, Americans do...

Now say it with me... Americans pay the tariffs, not the Chinese.

If we can't at least understand these simple 4th grade level concepts, we have no hope of surviving the shenanigans of any two-bit con-man who decides he wants to be president.

Now to be fair, the Chinese do pay a price *IF* American consumers decide not to buy their products in order to avoid paying the added tax and then ONLY if the Chinese can't sell their products to other markets. This is what Trump is betting on but it seems he isn't considering the fact that the Chinese are finding those other markets all around the world now, which means they have even less reason to negotiate hard deals with the U.S. and that is what Jinping is betting on. Of course Jinping is also betting on the fact that since the American supply-chain is so dependent on Chinese components, Americans will simply pay the higher tax anyway which makes no difference to the Chinese at all and that's something else Trump seems to be missing.

factnotfiction wrote:

To put things in perspective... Trump didn't actually have any choice. In fact his earlier statements suggest that he wasn't going to get involved, but Congress did something truly amazing for these times. They agreed... Not just marginally, but with a strong enough majority (Both Democrats and Republicans) to override the threat of veto.

Yes, this really pissed off the communists in Beijing but neither Democrats nor Republicans are willing to ignore the struggle of those people in Hong Kong, so they essentially forced Trump to "agree".

So is this going to screw up that "mini-trade deal" that Trump was "working" on? It might. Maybe if Trump wasn't so reckless with raising U.S. taxes on Chinese imports we wouldn't be in such a painful position where we NEED a special "mini-trade" deal.

Today, being Black Friday, might tell us something about these realities. We haven't had time to ween our supply-chain off Chinese materials yet so if sales go down today it maybe a signal that Americans are electing not to pay Trump's added tax. But if sales go up it means Americans ARE willing to pay Trump's added tax and the Chinese will be happily planning for more exports.

While the article does accurately describe a serious problem with our trust funds it does NOT take anything away from Trump's reckless economic policy and his off-the-hook spending on an obese military. When a family only has $1000 to last a month and rent is $600, it's not a good idea for that family to spend $800 on a trip to Disneyland and no reasonable person is going to listen to them blame the cost of rent for their failure to pay it.

We've known about the problems inherent with our trust funds for decades now. There have been hundreds of proposals and bills to address the problem over the years. Obviously, it's not an easy fix. But spending more money than we have on a "defense" budget that already exceeds the defense budgets of every nation on earth, while giving away billions that we DO have to people who are already billionaires is just plain stupid.
