Medicare Part G for Seniors
You are an older senior citizen and you can no longer take care of yourself and need Long Term Care,
but the government says there is no Nursing Home care available for you, what do you do?
You may opt for Medicare Part G.
The plan gives anyone 75 or older a gun (Part G for gun) and one bullet.
You may then shoot one worthless politician. This means you will be sent to prison for the rest of your life where you will receive three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating and air conditioning, cable TV, a library, and all the health care you need. Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That's great. Need a hearing aid, new hip, knees, kidney, lungs, sex change, or heart?
They are all covered! As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you at least as often as they do now!
And, who is paying for all of this? The same government that just told you they can't afford for you to go into a nursing home. And you will get rid of a useless politician while you are at it. And now, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay taxes.
Is this a great country or what?

Does anyone really wish to end up in a nursing home?

The one she is in now is great...
But my dad's family have all opted to die in their own homes...
Think I'll go that way too...

I will not even consider addressing such a stupid statement.

Except that the countries economy will implode because it is all our dimes that will be confiscated to pay for this fiasco. If you need a doctor to sign off on the nursing home you'll be dead by the time they get to you anyway. The population of our country is too large and the money is not there. It's simple math. Also google the avg. debt a doctor leaves med school with. Especially a specialist. Then ask yourself if you'd do 8 years of school, owe a half million or more in student loans and then work for a government paycheck?
I told my cousin to put her mother in law in a nursing home in Conn because the reimbersment rate for Medicade in Mass is too low to have adequate care in Mass. If you are in a home for over 6 mo, you are usually in Medicade. Then there is the visiting nurses. They get $40 an hour, plus mileage. They are billed by agencys to the tune of over three times that. This is stuff that needs fixing.

And just how would you fix it? Medicaid pays if you are impoverished. How about planning since your chance of ending up needing nursing home care is around 70% after age 65. Also in other countries families take care of families. For many on OPP planning might be out the window because of age but you might tell your grandchildren or children about Long Term Care policies and or Life Insurance with living benefits. Think about all that goes on to care for someone that needs nursing home type care. I've done it. It's time consuming and expensive.

We had a long term care policy for 40 years. When my husband had to go to a nursing home (Cancer) we were told by the insurance company that he had to be there six months before they started paying. Never did get a penny out of them. Good name company, too. Be careful when getting long term care insurance.
