I know what is at the heart of most Trump supporters: the need for decency, patriotism, and American values.

Our culture is in great flux. Almost all the standards that have stood for the history of our country as proper guides are now in question, ignored, or trashed...by how Conservatives see things; Liberals see the changes as progress to a "freer society." Quite a significant and perhaps unbridgeable divide.

The after-effect of Obama countered with the election of the unpredictable and far-right Trump was a miraculous rescue. Both sides were sick of politicians and the actions (non-actions) of Congress. The GOP offered a solution: the thoroughly maverick Trump. His outrageous rejection of rules and protocols or being PC thrilled his followers. His faults just added to the aura of his seemingly wild Independence from the norm of The Swamp. A bravery and sacrifice of sorts. How could anyone turn against or forsake that? He became hope for a return to the 50s and those seeming "good old days." No matter what he does, even deserting our ally, will not turn them.

I am a decent, God fearing man, I am a patriot, I revere our American values, and I wholeheartedly support president Trump.

I have never seen any evidence that "liberals see the changes as progress to a 'freer society'."

And unfortunately these people believe Trump even though he has no reason to believe anything about him.

Freer for who, corporations and the wealthy?

Then you have not been paying attention. Patriotism is seen by many on the Left as a conscious blindness to the possible wrongs or bad policies of the government. And American values are seen by many of the Left as White Nationalism, capitalism colonialism, racism, and Christian favoritism: Decency, to many on the Left, is breaking these ties.

I thank you, in a way, from being blind to what the Left thinks: an attempt to make them more likeable?

Freer for everyone. Nothing wrong with being wealthy. I've never found employment with a poor man.

You don't have to tell me how the left sees things. The left could f**k up a soup sandwich.

The government IS NOT America.

You and I have had our run ins in the past. On this post I have to agree with your basis. I don't judge a person on what they say, but on their actions. He is the first politician in my life that is actually keeping his promises. I sometimes cringe at his tweets and sometimes his manner. I grew up in the late 50's and the 60's. No, I don't want to go back to that time. I like not having to hang clothes on a line, having to iron everything I wear. Dishwashers are nice and I like the AC. Mainly not having to go to the outhouse on those cold days. As you stated, I pray that this country return to the morals and values that has made it great. We needed a fighter and he is fighting for those morals and values. I worked with the Kurds in Iraq. Good people and good soldiers. Having been in Iraq and Afghanistan I have came to the conclusion that America can not put a band-aid on the world. We have our own war here on the border. The nation that we need to be defending and building is America.

I've always preferred to do the hiring, and I am an extremely fair employer, and have tried to share profits, which is something that is hard to find.

That is so insightful, Blade! The left does indeed see America as the government, and the government must be changed to conform to their far out ideas, thus dragging us all into a form of collectivism where the Elites run the government, the military supports them, and we can simply become peasants under their so-called enlightened control and to hell with freedom and democracy. Come to think of it, a major step along that path has just been passed: Corporations are now to be treated as persons, perhaps in a limited way for now, but to extend it further could become quite easy: the camel's nose is under the tent. So GM, Facebook, Google, Boeing and all the other bigtime Corporations could be treated just like you and me! Madness!

That's pretty much the crux of it.

Borgs must be programmed. Will a "progressive Borg" be programmed to obey the laws of robotics a la Asimov:

First Law: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law: A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

And then: What I tell you three times is true.

Harm is what I will tell you three times...
