1 John 4:7-21 God Is Love

Introduction:

These are words of life!

“Roll up roll up, the magical mystery tour is waiting to take you away, waiting to take you away.” (The Beatles 1967)

Roll up roll up, the biblical mystery tour is waiting to take you away, take you away. (God)

The former mystery tour will take you away to hell. The latter will take you away in rapture!

This is an odd edition. It’s about a coming mystery, a severe secret that when it manifests, will rock the world. It’s odd because I have no idea what it is or will be, and yet I feel led to write about its coming now, ahead of time. You could say: “This guy does not know what he’s talking about!”

I have had a strong sense in my spirit that something big is coming and that there will be a spectacular message of warning within it. So, I now have my spiritual eyes and ears open, as I await the revealing of the mystery. And let me tell you, that it may not be only me who receives it.

This then is an appropriate time to expand on the incredible subject of Bible mysteries, signs and secrets. It is a treasure trove of profound importance, full of hidden messages and life-changing truth.

But it is also a haunt of devils and demons, great error, and nightmarish spiritual quicksand!

Many have gone out on the mystery tour, only to be shipwrecked by hidden rocks. Many on the trail of magical mysteries have gone into forbidden territory, never to come out.

Some like Rabbi Jonathan Cahn have delved deep into numerous Bible mysteries and come out with many books and brilliant Spirit-led teachings on the subject, opening the eyes of all who would take the trouble to look beyond the surface.

The parables of the Bible are mysteries of sorts. They reveal a deeper underlying truth.

There is however, an important issue relating to Bible mysteries. Why do they exist?

Why does God hide His face from man? Why does He conceal powerful truths? Why does he speak in mysterious parables? Why not just lay it all out in the open, clear and simple?

The reason is because the deeper things of God are always exclusive. They are only for those who diligently search for them. They are only for the Spirit-led few who come in faith and pay the price.

Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”

Job 15:8 “Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit your understanding to yourself?

Beware of getting sidetracked by signs, wonders and mysteries, but don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. “The secret things belong to the Lord, but the revealed things to you.” (Deuteronomy 29:29). Do lean on and trust the Spirit of God to show you and bring to life what He desires.

1 Corinthians 2:7 “We speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom of God, ordained before the ages for our glory.”

The seven mysteries:

I recently shared with you the importance of the hidden messages contained in the seven feasts of the Lord. There are many parallels with the seven mysteries. There are numerous other groupings of seven in the Bible: The seven-fold Spirit of God, the seven churches, the seven gifts of the Spirit, the seven eyes – and more.

The Bible has a lot to say about mysteries. There are a number of original words used for “mystery.” The one I’m interested in now is Strong’s G3466 - “Mysterion.” It means a hidden secret revealed only to insiders in the know. Those on the outside cannot see or understand the mystery. It does not mean it’s a mystery to everyone. It’s like having a password to come into a secret place. It’s only for those with the password.

Colossians 1:26 “The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations has now been revealed to the saints.”

Here are the seven biblical mysteries:

●The Kingdom of God (Matthew 13:11). ●Tongues (1 Corinthians 14:2). ●The rapture (1 Corinthians 15:51). ●The gospel (Ephesians 6:19). ●Sin (2 Thessalonians 2:7). ●Godliness (1 Timothy 3:16). ●Israel’s blindness (Romans 11:25.)

Note that these “mysteries” above are not a mystery to true believers. They are a total mystery to unbelievers. This is why the Bible says you need to be born again to even see the kingdom of God! (John 3:3)

Many times, as most Christians know, it is most frustrating trying to get unbelievers to see spiritual things. They can’t see or understand the things of the Spirit outside of the new birth.

If you are not saved, you can’t see the kingdom of God, but you will see buildings, pews and men in pretty revolting frocks, behind elevated pulpits and choirs singing to ancient organs. You will think the church is a place like that, just like the one down on the corner.

Note in the list of mysteries that they all relate to the true born again church, except the last one, “Israel’s blindness.” This one is very important, which I’ll discuss in more detail a bit further on.

Let’s go on the mystery tour:

The kingdom of God: is a mystery. You can’t even see it or participate in it unless born-again. It is a kingdom ruled by a King in which all true believers will co-rule and reign with our Messiah. It is above and removed from the kingdoms of this world. The kingdom of God includes the kingdom of heaven, the church on earth, saved Israel, the Millennium and will in future include all domains in the universe, cleansed and re-created.

Tongues: This is another big mystery to outsiders and even for many Christians who reject the baptism in the Spirit, with the evidence of tongues. The gift of tongues was the immediate identifying mark of the birth of the church age and the end of the Old Covenant. Tongues are inextricably linked with the gifts of the Spirit, spiritual warfare, and success over the world. Speaking and praying in tongues is a wonderful, powerful, mysterious key to success. The use of tongues will come to an end at the end of the church age and not before.

The rapture: The rapture of the church is a mystery that relates to the true church exclusively. It is the instant catching away of believers transporting them in a flash to heaven in their new resurrected bodies. The rapture ends the church age or dispensation, and gives way to the seventieth week of years of Daniel 9:27 also called the tribulation period, and the time of Jacob’s trouble. The rapture is called a mystery because it bookends the mystery of the church age.

Why the rapture matters: It triggers the final restoration of the Jews. The two are inextricably linked. Teachers and preachers that don’t touch the rapture are by default of replacement theology, even if in their ignorance.

The gospel: The gospel is called a mystery because it is of the Spirit of God – its author and revealer. It is the revelation of God’s words for us the church, which is also a mystery. The gospel is “dead letter” to those outside the kingdom of God, but to those on the inside and who are Spirit filled, it is alive and life giving. (2 Corinthians 3:6)

Sin: There would be no such thing as sin if there were no law of God or gospel. Unbelievers do not have a sin consciousness stemming from the knowledge of God. To them sin is relative, mostly a pleasure, and with no eternal consequences. Outside of the Spirit of God, sin is a mystery. Only true believers can see the mystery and do something about it.

Godliness: True godliness is a virtue which is identified by the Spirit of God. In many respects it is the antithesis of sin. Godliness is a powerful driving characteristic of the Spirit of God. It is all a mystery to outsiders. That is why they think we are mad! They think godliness is doing a few good deeds so that some angry God somewhere will smile on them. Little do they know that even their good is bad, outside of the kingdom!

What is the common thread through these mysteries? They are all under attack by the devil.

Now, as we near the end of our mystery tour, the real drama ignites! (I want to spend a bit more time on this mystery of Israel’s blindness)

Israel’s blindness:

This mystery is a limited partial blindness with a “sell-by” time-stamp on it. Soon, the Jews will see their crucified and risen Messiah. They will come through the cross of Calvary to glory.

Romans 11:25 “I do not desire brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that hardening in part has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.”

There are so many glorious prophecies in the Old Covenant relating to the identity of the coming Messiah; it really is a mystery that the Jews are blind to Him. There are Old Covenant prophecies of His birthplace, Bethlehem, His virgin birth, His crucifixion and manner of death, His burial and resurrection, and much more. And they remain blind!

Shockingly many deceived Bible teachers and church leaders, teach that God used the Jews to bring in Messiah and now that the Jews have rejected Him, and been blinded, that is where the story ends for them. They teach that the Jews are not the called or the chosen people anymore.

Isaiah 11:11-12 “It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left…He shall set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel…from the four corners of the earth.”

Romans 11:29 “The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.” This is not talking about a calling. It is a reference to the calling of God on Israel.” (Check the context)

There is coming a time, which has already started, when this mystery-blindness will disappear, like a veil blowing in the Spirit’s wind. It will happen when the full number of Gentiles has come in. (Romans 11:25) = meaning the gentiles coming into heaven.

There is another beautiful application of this verse (Romans 11:25). The fullness of the Gentiles coming in, is a reference to the rapture and the church coming into heaven.

So, Israel’s mystery blindness is about to disappear!

Beware church, when Israel gets her sight back! That will be the exact time many so-called Christians will be blinded. (Romans 11:20-23)

Let me ask you this in all honesty:

If God is finished with Israel because of their hard hearts, which caused their blindness, why is He bringing them back in their blindness? The following two verses (and there are many more) clearly show God bringing the Jews back in their blindness and then opening their eyes!

Isaiah 42:16 “I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known, I will make darkness light before them and crooked places straight.”

Isaiah 29:18 “In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of the obscurity of darkness.”

What incredible drama!! What a wonder this all is!!

Don’t get caught on the wrong side of God when He begins eye surgery on the Jews. Don’t get caught on the wrong side when the wind of the Spirit blows the veil aside! You will regret it forever.

The coming secret mystery, which I have alluded to:

Psalm 74:9-10 “We do not see our signs. There is no longer any prophet, nor is there any among us who knows how long. O God, how long will the adversary reproach us and the enemy blaspheme Your name?

In the verse above we see the importance of prophetic insight into the timing of the coming of the Lord, Israel’s awakening and the tribulation.

This soon to be revealed secret mystery, will rock the world, but the world will not understand it for the same reason as the seven mysteries I’ve outlined above.

As said, I don’t know what it will be just yet, but I do have a sense that it will have something to do with the veil of blindness being lifted from Israel and a God-inflicted blindness coming upon certain sections of the church.

What will lift the veil of blindness upon the Jews? A wind of the Spirit will, but there will be an event to cause it.

What is it exactly that produces light and sight – for Israel?

Have a good look at the following two verses relating to Israel’s release from Egypt:

Jeremiah 32:21 “You have brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders and a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror.”

Exodus 7:3 “I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.”

Note that God hardened the heart of Pharaoh to the demand by Moses to “Let My people go.” He then relented and let them go, but later changed his mind and pursued the Israelis only to get his armies drowned in the Red Sea.

God used many signs and wonders at that time.

Today, Israel is almost ready to leave Egypt (the world) again and enter her glorious Promised Land of salvation. Interestingly the antichrist is a type of Pharaoh in this instance. He (the antichrist) will make peace with Israel, but it will be to bait them. Then he will pursue them, as they are saved in mass. He will again meet his fate!

Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth, Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen. This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise.”

Romans 10:19 “I say, ‘did Israel not know?’ First Moses said, ‘I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will anger you by a foolish nation.’”

Romans 11:11 “Have they (Jews) stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Jews.”

God would not use unbelievers to provoke His people to jealousy. Those who are not a nation would refer to the multi-racial and cultural nature of the church. The foolish nation would have to be those who are born of the Spirit of God. It would be the true, non-Babylon (Protestants) influenced church, including born-again Jews, now part of the church.

The enemies of God’s people:

These enemies will naturally be enemies of God’s word as well.

Psalm 12:8 “The wicked prowl on every side, when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.”

Amazingly, many churches can’t see that the one on the cross in their stained glass windows is a Jew! They don’t see that the “Banner for the nations” (Isaiah 11:11-12) is a signpost stained with Jewish blood!
