Please guide me. I would appreciate suggestions for topics to join and participate in.

I am a supporter of basic, foundational, sound moral principles. These must be respected and honored in the Roman Catholic Church and the United States of America better than they are now. I believe that protecting personal rights and freedoms must be the primary focus of good people everywhere, assuming their expression doesn't harm anyone else or the common good. I believe that power corrupts and mature people need to be involved in society and politics to protect themselves and their loved ones from the tyranny of those who assume too much power and are then corrupted by that power. I believe public office holders should be forced to honor their oaths of office. i believe our governments in the USA have become very tyrannical and many of our "public servants" are now corrupted and not serving the common good of we, The People.

I am frustrated with my Roman Catholic Church hierarchy which has become tyrannical. Pope Benedict XVI is still my Pope. Francis Bergoglio is an impostor due to the fact that Pope Benedict did not resign as required by the doctrines of my Roman Catholic Church. I believe my Church has no right to support immigrants passing through more than one international border to seek asylum. The hierarchy of my Church is not committed to carrying out the will of Jesus Christ and this is simply evil and many of them will dearly pay for this evil when they graduate from this life.

I am a father, a grandfather, a health care professional, a bicyclist, a kayaker, a paraglider pilot, a skier, a dog lover, .... I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, IL, USA.

I am a supporter of our President, Donald Trump. I also support a Convention of States to reset the groundrules for my beloved Country. I strongly support the Second Amendment and the God given rights and freedoms of good people everywhere!!!

Welcome, Dave! I will be happy to respond after lunch. My wife has reminded me 3 times that I should stop writing on OPP and go to lunch. Good luck.

Welcome to OPP, I think you will find many threads to join. I look forward to reading your inputs. If I can be of assistance to you, just let me know, but honestly your introduction was so well written, I doubt you will need help. There is a request, if you would be so kind, use the quote reply button when responding. Many thanks and again, I send you a warm welcome!

Welcome daveasm3. Your frustrations echo mine. I am a cradle Catholic, and practiced my faith devotedly since I was growing up until now. However, there are many issues now happening at the Vatican since Pope Francis took over.

I too preferred Pope Benedict. I am aware that he was forced to resign and gave up the seat to Pope Francis without objections. I am also aware that some powerful democrats in our country had facilitated this transfer of power. I won't get into details with that though I have them.

Now, I feel frustrated of the changes happening in our Catholic faith since 2013, when Pope Francis took over. Pope Francis though of Italian ancestry, grew up in Socialist Argentina, and was reportedly mentored by a Communist. I am not sure of that mentor. But his ideas running the Vatican is so dramatically different and frustrating than the previous Pope Benedict and Saint Paul II. I pray to God I am wrong but what is going on I could see and feel great transformation of many traditional ethics of the Church.

Pope does not know everything. He must not intervene how our US government and political system works. It effectively works for centuries under the Judeo-Christian principles.

He demands US open borders, bridges for all illegal aliens to come in. He objected to how our immigration policies are handled. He must realize that our government leaders are also under God, and there are rules and responsibilities to protecting the people. That is why we have rules to follow. We are a sovereign nation. I appreciate president Trump adheres to that principle. But yes, i believe that the LEFTISTS have been trying to transform our country to Godless principles of Socialism and Communism. I am frustrated with that too.

Matthew 7:13
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."

He constantly reminds of wide open borders to accommodate all the people from South of the Border, and all over the world come into the United States. i believe that is a wrong compassion. The people from the South and Central America countries are all ruled by Socialism. The countries turned bankrupt and the leaders become so wealthy and powerful. I think instead, he must go to those places and talk to the leaders how their people are managed.

I pray that changes in leadership at the Vatican could happen. But I rest my hope in God and do what God asked me to do. I am still active in the Church Ministry that does not involve Pope's directions. May God bless you, and thank you.

Welcome, thank you for your honesty. By your description, there will be much for you to comment on. Things can get pretty rough here in some threads; don't take it personally. There are many good and decent people at this site--on both sides of the aisle. I am also a cradle Catholic, though I no longer attend church. Have fun and make some friends.

Welcome to the zoo called OPP. We are also dog lovers, and use the goodness of the dogs to help abused children heal from their abuse. You will find a lot of good people on OPP but also a group of hateful people that many of us choose to ignore. Have fun here.

Welcome Dave don't give up on your country or your faith we can all be dissatisfied with both and still have hope for the future. God is everywhere I talk to him when I get in my car to drive when I'm sitting in the house he's never failed to be with me in my hour of need. Saying that I have never been baptized and do not believe in the churches of today their more money machines in my eye's. I pray that God understands my choice and I believe he does. As for our country, she is definitely having her own growing pains and good and faithful patriots it is our choices that will bring our country to its proper place. We all need to learn about our constitution and stand by it. Those able need to get involved with the convention of states and to understand what is at stake. You will learn a great deal from the people here I know I have it gets kinda hot but we all return to hash out our point of view so don't get upset have fun make friends.

I agree with every word. Wish it could all be possible, but it’s looking rather bleak at
at the moment. I’m a grandmother and a great grandmother with two fantastic great
grandchildren who have a right to grow up in a free society and apply themselves to
reach a happy future. I’m happy to “meet” you. Just look at this stuff everyday and you’ll have plenty to write about. As our President would say “Believe me”.

Funny thing. When I taught Sunday School Senior High Schoolers, I told them to talk to God anywhere even driving your car. I still do. Churches are money grubbing but the Christians who attend church services and are faithful to God are not. Many of us have prayer groups in homes. Certainly God understands and hears our prayers. I was warned by some good soul how hard it would be for me on here, but I’ve learned a lot and it feels good to get things off your chest even if no one reads what you write.

Hi again, Dave. Welcome again. I am completely in lockstep with you in support of basic foundational, moral principles. While I don't have a Roman Catholic background, I am a committed Christian and try to honor Christ in everything I do. Of course I am not happy with much of what is going on today. I am not that familiar with the Roman Catholic Church but I grew up in neighborhood that was very much Roman Catholic so I am not unfamiliar with much of the Church's precepts. Some of the acquaintances I made then remain my best friends today. I know that we all believe in salvation through Jesus Christ alone and we have tried to raise our families accordingly. I am very conservative and some of my good friends are not. We still love one another. I have a close relative who is gay and married to another gay man. I love him and pray for him. Good moral principles don't have to be conservative or liberal, republican or democrat but I firmly believe they should be grounded in the Bible. Today that might get one branded a bigot, a racist or some kind of phobe. That's too bad.

I hope you will find what you are looking for here on OPP. You won't find any shortage of contentious debate here and sometimes it is difficult to maintain proper feelings toward some. Hang in there and don't hesitate to state your personal feelings whatever they are. Personally, I feel we could do without the silly little pictures and certainly the name calling which offer very little by way of substantive dialogue. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Bernie

Thanks Carol. I have mixed family too. My nephews married Evangelicals and we all pray together with reverence to our faith but most of all our love and respect directed to God. That is why I love all Christians whose focus is the ultimate love for God.
