Society and the government has already made restrictions that affect the ability for civilians to own military grade ordnance. Some states got more restrictive than others and they all need to be brought into the realm of unified background checks among other things. I use an AR for coyotes, and I consider ten round mags to be a small hindrance compared to a 20 or 30 round mag. In fact I have emptied a magazine shooting at running targets, and reloaded and got the one I was shooting at when I ran out. Having to reload after every ten would slow a mass shooter down. That said everyone I know here in California can easily get higher capacity mags if they want them because they are available in neighboring states.

In reality the constitution said nothing about military grade weapons, that is up to government to decide.

Background checks will do nothing. "Red flag" laws will do nothing. This is a mental health problem NOT a gun problem. If they ever got that through their heads we might get somewhere, but confiscate the guns is what the dems want. Go to the "Imam of peace's" mosque unexpectedly, see if he's still a man of peace.

You get some you miss some, just because you don’t catch every speeder dosnt mean you don’t set speed limits. Remember the two most important words in our second amendment “well regulated.”
Right, Kevyn(with a Y). You set speed limits. But until someone exceeds that speed limit, you stay the hell out of their business! And there isn't any paperwork filled out UNTIL then!

I can change out mags in less than 3 seconds. Realistically, in a mass shooting situation, how much difference is 3 seconds going to make?
In reality, the Constitution said "arms;" which, in the late 18th century were defined as anything an individual could use as an offensive or defensive weapon.
In reality, I have never heard a vet or active duty personnel refer to civilian firearms as "military grade ordnance."
In reality, in the late 18th century, the only difference between military and civilian firearms was that civilian arms were usually better quality.
Concerning background checks, here are some fairly recent data. 232,000 referrals for prosecution and 25 actual prosecutions.

Anyone who completes a tactical training course with AR15s taught by pros can do a reload in 1 to 1 - 1/2 seconds. I saw a demo: two instructors, one had a full 30 round mag, the other had three 10 round mags, two of the mags were coupled with a quick reload connector. The instructor with the 3 mags was about 4 seconds behind when all the mags were empty.

I'm a little out of practice, since I don't currently own an AR. Maybe I should get another one just in case.
