I think he caved to NRA pressure and not to a decision by conscience. It is all about winning for him and what is best for the country always takes second, or even third, place. As well as the innocent lives killed by gun violence. Put on a scale, one side American innocent people dead and on the other votes, his thumb works for the president. No contest. His base will be tickled pink.

As usual you are ridiculous...Thr last 2 shooters passed all background checks..In fact most mass shooters pass background checks....It doesn't matter..Bad guy will always find a way to kill you....

So do not try to make it any difficult for them but make it as easy as possible so that when that momentary rage, disappointment, jealously, depression or whatever hits, you can get a quick gun to express your feelings. Most murders are crimes of passion. With a little time, those feeling will gradually dissipate or lessen enough not to fuel homicide. Even a few hours delay often spells the difference in these cases between murder and not. And those that brood on real or perceived injuries or slights, wanting revenge, any time between getting a weapon and carrying out their vengeance, like a month for a universal background check, might save any number of lives.

The ridiculous argument that gun control is useless because a "Bad guy will always find a way to kill you" or that they can always obtain a gun illegally, does not take in the scenarios I presented. Gun control is highly effective in those instances. Many people who ended up murdering someone were hoping for a way out, something to stop them. Suicides are like that. Many of those who survive an attempt say if they did not have a gun, they never would have tried.

Where the problem is in this either/or view of gun control. There are many unexpected benefits in stricter gun controls and none is loose gun control. Loose gun control does not make people less violent. All the Northeast has less gun violence than the rest of the nation. They are in the bottom fifteen. Those in the top fifteen are listed here. Why are they so violent?

15. Nevada

14. Tennessee

13. Kentucky

12. West Virginia

11. Wyoming

10. South Carolina

9. Arkansas

8. New Mexico

7. Missouri

6. Montana

5. Oklahoma

4. Mississippi

3. Louisiana

2. Alabama

1. Alaska

How many Southern States with loose gun laws and other Red states are in the top fifteen of gun violence? Please explain this. One would hopefully think that those top fifteen states for gun violence would beg the president to DO SOMETHING! But they are Red so they never will.

The stats you posted are ambiguous, they do not take into account where the most violent crime is concentrated within the states--which is of course in metropolitan areas--and the stats do not account for the overall population of the state.

In Nevada, for example, (one of the least populated states) the overwhelming majority of crimes occur in Las Vegas with Reno a distant second. In Vegas, the crimes are even further concentrated in North Las Vegas where the majority of the population is minorities, including a fair share of illegals. Both of those cities are governed by democrats.

So, here are the 25 most violent cities in America:

1. St. Louis, Missouri
2. Detroit, Michigan
3. Baltimore, Maryland
4. Memphis, Tennessee
5. Kansas City, Missouri
6. Little Rock, Arkansas
7. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
8. Rockford, Illinois
9. Cleveland, Ohio
10. Stockton, California
11. Albuquerque, New Mexico
12. Springfield, Missouri
13. Indianapolis, Indiana
14. Oakland, California
15. San Bernardino, California
16. Anchorage, Alaska
17. Nashville, Tennessee
18. Lansing, Michigan
19. New Orleans, Louisiana
20. Minneapolis, Minnesota
21. Chicago, Illinois
22. Houston, Texas
23. Hartford, Connecticut
24. Chattanooga, Tennessee
25. Beaumont, Texas

Without the specific details, the map here shows where the highest crime rates are concentrated (BLUE), and where the crime rates are low (RED).

It would be interesting to see a map showing population density of males age 16-25.

I didn't create that map and you ignored the meat and potatoes.

Maybe this will help: Murders in US very concentrated: 54% of US counties in 2014 had 0 murders, 2% of counties had 51% of the murders

He's more worried about the NRA and Putin, he should be worried about the 80+ percent that support background checks and sensible gun laws.

Do you think he's worried about being in trouble with dems?

Why don't you try posting meaningful topics as opposed to you stream of consciousness? Do you really want to know what people think, or do you care about the reality of Trump's positions on gun control?

I believe PR is for something positive not just thoughts and prayers either. She really does believe something should be done.
