Capitalism And Greed Are Strangers

Capitalism is getting a bad rap lately by the small but growing contingent of democratic socialists infecting Congress.

So what exactly is this threat from which they seek to save us?

Capitalism is based on the free and voluntary exchange of goods. The only way you can prosper is to provide something other people want. If you are a farmer and produce wheat, someone else will exchange what he has produced (or use a medium of exchange such as money) to trade for your wheat.

No one is forced to do anything.

If you sell $1's worth of wheat to a billion people, you become a billionaire — without robbing anyone or forcing anyone to do anything.

Socialism, fascism, communism, or any other form of a collective society where government-granted "rights" trump individual rights are based on force.

Politicians decide who is deserving and who is not, and who shall prosper — based not on their talents or contributions, but on their fealty.

Greed is not a feature of capitalism, but it is of socialism. Envy also is a feature of socialism. Politicians use it to divide and conquer. They pit people against each other by using race, wealth, or any other difference.

Free exchange in capitalism is not limited to the exchange of goods. If what you produce is labor, you can use that for exchange. Agreeing to produce a certain amount of labor for a certain amount of compensation in return is a private contract between employee and employer and is no business of anyone else. Either party can end the contract at will if dissatisfied.

Capitalists, on the other hand, compete for your favor by seeking to provide you more goods you want at less cost than anyone else.

No other economic system in history has produced as much prosperity as capitalism. Poverty worldwide has plummeted since capitalism produced the industrial revolution.

America has led the world in promoting liberty and prosperity, yet in this country, there is a loud and persistent voice from elements of the media and academia to reverse the progress.

They call themselves "progressives."

By gosh, I believe you’ve made a few very excellent points...all in favor of the retention of Capitalism. May we all get out and work toward that goal. I’ve had enough of Bernie Sanders and the other 24 or 25 and their giveaway programs. I haven’t worked all my life to give everything away to lunatics. Nor have Pelosi and Schumer, etc., they just want the rest of us to put up. Think about this, AOC, if she isn’t re-elected (which God forbid), will be drawing retirement Monroe’s from us for the remainder of her good for nothing life.

Capitalism gives itself a bad rap because it can't apply to all situations of the human condition. In areas of infinite demand, it flails blindly, leaving the haves with and the have nots without. This is why capitalism and socialism are always going to be brothers and the government is always going to be the parent that keeps thems them together.

Then there is the wart on the end of the nose of capitalism it's a tendency to form monopolies and to encroach on the government in the form of corporatism as it has done under the republicans. If ours was not a democracy where all citizens had rights that would be one thing. But in a democracy, the loser has to be the people as is the case today.

Capitalism isn't the perfect system it claims to be and in a democracy where the people have rights, capitalism has to be balanced against those rights. Capitalism has never been able to regulate itself nor has it always worked for the benefit of all men. Because of that Capitalism will always need a regulator and socialism to provide for the areas of infinite demand such as healthcare, education, and at least partially life of the aged.

Nobody is doing a damn thing to regulate education. That’s why we’re at the bottom of the world’s list in education. I don’t agree with much else from you.

Who built general electric, who built general motors, who built all the companys we used to envy?We the american labor build them, they may had had the money but they could never had been great without the labor of many hard workers.what have most of the great companys done to the american workers, well they have basicaly shit on them .Companys used to care about people, now all they care about is their ceos, making a 1000 times more than their workers and if you think thats right you must be a republican.About education my state used to a democrate state till all these people started moving in then we became a republican state. Yes we are getting plenty of jobs thats why they keep coming,But now that we are a right state our roads that used to be some of the best in the country have gotten terrible, why it seems like the corprate wellfare sucked all the money out so much the no raise tax republican raised gas taxes to get money to try to get our roads back in some kind of decent shape again. As for education the republicans say what kids will learn and what they want learn, they come up with their own test for the kids to take to see how they were doing. So they put out a contract to one of their buddies to admin.the test i talking million of dollars, first year when it was time to take the test the computers wouldnt work, then the second year after getting millions of more dollars test didnt work, then the 3rd year same thing. Now we have a new republican governor so well see what happens on the 4th year.My state has brought in many jobs under the republicans but we were bringing in many when democrates were in controll.,but under republicans last count under republican each job has cost the tax payers 1.3 million per job,.Where republicans have turned my state into a right to work state, where people have the right to work for low wages hardly any benfits ,,and if you get hurt on the job at no fault of your own out the back door .You also have the right to work overtime without pay,you can have vacation time and it took away from you.But this is what republicans like i guess. This is just a little of what has happened in my state since republicans took over.Through my working life when we were a democratic state and more union,so many people made good wages good benfits and pensions, healthcare and the companys did good to,my how times have changed since republicans took over.
SO MANY PEOPLE SUCKERED ,hope they wake up some day.If you think liberals are sorry ,wake up the right is just as sorry or worse

I'm betting that your eyes are brown. Oh! By the way we aren't a democracy yet but not because you wouldn't prefer it. Mike
