I guess she is not aware that the military actually never clocks out, you can be called back to work at anytime. And leave, approved well in advance can be canceled for any reason. So a typical military member does not earn $23 dollars an hour.... it is more like $5 an hour. Also, consider this.... they are paid to kill those who wish to do our nation harm. Not many people can pull the trigger.

So, I say pack her up and send her to boot camp (as if she could make it through the vetting process), have her strap on a 60 pound pack, crawl through the Obstacle Course and then run with that pack on the back for 5 miles..... daily! Have a headache...too bad, have cramps....too bad. Pregnant, up to 7th month....too bad. Child care problems, too bad (family was not issued). Just need a personal day.... tough luck. So, rain or shine, snow or heat.... you do your job 24/7. And should you fail, your squadron is punished so you learn quickly to work as a team and help each other through each day.... come what may. BTW, I am not just talking about the elite soldier.... I was in the Air Force, loved it and have no regrets. I was in the best shape of my life.... and there were days when I was unsure I could run another mile, thank G*d for my team mates!

Whereas the article is fake, she has spoken out in the past about the military budget. She has also suggested that the military budget be reduced. That alone may have driven this story. Here is a quote: "Just last year we gave the military a $700 billion dollar budget increase, which they didn’t even ask for," Ocasio-Cortez said July 26. "They were like, we don’t want another fighter jet! Don’t give us another nuclear bomb. They didn’t even ask for it. And we gave it to them." Her recommendation at the time was to cut the military to pay for "social programs." It is worthwhile to note that the military was not given a $700 billion increase, but a $61 billion to pay for facility upgrades (many of the WWII building were still being used for quarters), pay for family services and housing. The increase was long over due. So, this story was fabricated.... based on OC's complaint, she inferred that the military member is overpaid and outdated/obsolete equipment need not be replaced.

This article appeared in taters gona tate and plainly states "tatersgonnatate.com is a subsidiary of the “America’s Last Line of Defense” network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery..." Which to me means there is a grain of truth or fact and requires further investigation. Further, this site is a LIBERAL site, as they explain "Taters” are the conservative fans of America’s Last Line of Defense. They are fragile, frightened, mostly older caucasian Americans. They believe nearly anything. While we go out of our way to educate them that not everything they agree with is true, they are still old, typically ignorant, and again — very afraid of everything. Our mission is to do our best to show them the light, through shame if necessary, and to have a good time doing it, because…old and afraid or not, these people are responsible for the patriarchy we’re railing so hard against. With that in mind, and the truth that OC has designs and apparent intent to have the military budget reduced, I wrote my opinion that she should join the military and at the end of her enlistment, make the determination that our military is given too big of a share in the budget. I stand by what I wrote. However, I do not agree with the tweets that she should be killed, as far as I know it is not against any law to be ignorant (as proven the state of OC's many remarks) and is not yet an executable offense in the USA. The officers should be investigated, but not necessarily fired for retweeting the satire found on taters gotta tate.

How long ago was it when the DOD couldent account for trillions and you want to give them more. They need to be cut we have been getting our asses kicked for over 18 years no plans going in no plans getting out no idea why were there and worse of all were no closer to victory than when we started and top it off we dont know what it would look like!

The Pentagon has had accountability problems ..... starting back in the 1950s. And having run a major program for DOD, I know why. PMs often "borrow" from a smaller program to meet the requirements of a more public or higher priority program and this requires "adjustments" to the financial sheets. Often these transactions are "forgotten" and appropriate adjustments are not made in every last audit trail. So, it often appears as if money is "lost" which is untrue, the money was spent on essential programs and it is just oversights in not making applicable changes in databases or accounting sheets.

So, instead of addressing my comment.... you want to change the subject and justify OC's message of reducing the budget for the military thus being the core truth in the satire of taters gotta tate. Of course we need to wake up to why satire is funny or wounding.... there is always a core of truth. The truth in the original thread is simple..... OC thinks we spend too much on the military. And the military is not just airplanes or tanks, those pieces of equipment would be useless without the military member and their families (family members deserve more credit for their contributions). The military are asked to do the unthinkable (for the average American) so that the citizens do not have to. They face enemies/foes on their grounds so that we do not have to fight on the shores from California to Maine...Weaken our military and our security can not be assumed or assured.
