Why was the United States Marine Corps created? And let’s see, when was that? Anyone, anyone?

Think Tun's Tavern, Carol. https://marineparents.com/marinecorps/tuntavern.asp

The U.S. Marine Corps celebrates its birthday as Nov. 10, 1775, the day a decision by the Second Continental Congress established two battalions of Marines. That 1775 group was known as the Continental Marines, and it wasn’t quite yet the United States Marine Corps.

When this force was first raised during the Revolutionary War, it was part of the Continental Army. The Continental Congress ordered “that particular care be taken, that no persons be appointed to office, or enlisted into said battalions, but such as are good seamen, or so acquainted with maritime affairs as to be able to serve to advantage by sea when required.” The newly formed Continental Marines soon launched a successful mission on the British Fort Nassau in the Bahamas, and according to a 1921 Marine Corps Gazette article they participated in the Battles of Trenton and Princeton. When the Revolution ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the Marines, like the Navy, were disbanded.

It wasn’t until 15 years later, on July 11, 1798, that President John Adams signed into law a congressional act which created—or re-created, depending how you’re counting—the United States Marine Corps. The re-established force served in addition to the Army and Navy and would organize those Marines who were already enlisted in other military branches.

Perhaps then you should start some self examination before criticizing others.

Good advice for all of us, L-T. Sort'a along the lines of "physician, heal thyself."

BTW, if you read criticism in my previous posts, you might suffer from paranoia and/or insecurity.

It gets tiring to read/hear of 'TDS' often being the root cause of those who oppose any of Trump's words and/or policies, especially considering it is also the root cause of those who support him.....

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a satirical psychological diagnosis used to explain the hysterical reaction and belligerent behavior of people generally directed towards anything related to President Donald Trump (pro or con) as pertaining to his presidency. It is not intended to be a logical argument, rather a jab at another individual's excessive emotional reactions as well as aggressive physical displays. It is an ad hominem argument, not a strawman argument as suggested by definition. And, there are numerous variations on TDS...all of which have their own particular partisan/ideological twist to them.

I offer the following to explain the variation of 'TDS' most often affiliated with Trump supporters:

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a mental condition in which a person has been driven effectively insane due to their love of Donald Trump, to the point they will abandon all logic and reason. Symptoms for this condition can be very diverse, ranging from racist or xenophobic outbursts to a complete disconnection from reality. TDS can also often result in the sufferer exhibiting violent, homicidal, or even genocidal desires, particularly against residents from foreign countries. Sufferers have also been known to wish direct self-harm on themselves (such as increased tariffs, a desire for tax cuts heavily favoring corporations and the 1%, infringement of first amendment rights, and even the destruction of NATO for comrade Putin)… provided that action was initiated by Donald Trump.

Paranoia is also a common symptom of TDS. Sufferers have been known to believe that they are in some way being persecuted when their Trump related beliefs are questioned, and in some cases believe they are about to be a victim of an immigrant related crime. The paranoia does however not seem to be bad enough to make TDS sufferers attempt to actually becoming informed and think for themselves.

If properly treated, suffers of TDS can make a full recovery. Many sufferers have been known to grow out of TDS, yet many can only be treated by having their condition directly treated through the application of logical reasoning. It is also known that products containing mole can exacerbate the condition.

Once again the Democrats are showing their TDS and hate. They are trying to make a big deal and condemn Trump about his comments telling a few women in Congress if they do not like America they can go back to their native countries and fix them. While Trump would do well to cut out a lot of his tweets, if one reads the comments now in question objectively there is no racist comment in them.

Certainly the dems hate this man. He is the first president sense ike that even tried to keep his word.

The huge difference? Ike was a good and decent man...IMO, the best republican president of my lifetime.

And I hold that same belief. Too many people in our government know nothing about our laws, wouldn’t enforce them if they knew. They also have no personal knowledge of our Constitution. It would help if elected officials were more aware,

Incorrect. "....Go back to your own country..." has ALWAYS been an inherently racist term. It was used against the Jews, against the Irish, against the slaves, against the Italians, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Vietnamese, the Mexicans, etc. What part of the history of this term DON'T you understand?

Not racist at all but could actually be complimentary if the country you were going back to is not a $hithole. You actually don't know the definition of racist which seems to be true of people of color and the demorat party as a whole.

You indeed have TDS. Now get over it. We are tired of your whining and don't want to hear it for another 6 years.
