We'll see how that goes when Trump demands that agencies and states are told to reveal information illegally. He tried that with voter roll information protected by civil rights.

So you believe it's "okay" to pad a population count with people who aren't eligible to vote in order for a state to gain more representation, thus more votes, in Congress.

You, Woodless Guru, and the rest of the portsiders who have zero scruples, who will lie, cheat and steal if that's what it takes to acquire more power, are real pieces of work.

Just like the Democrats in North Carolina when I lived there: the voters kept electing conservative judges, so the Dems kept pushing to create more judgeships rather than present candidates acceptable to the voters.

Every time they succeeded, the voters voted in another conservative. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Ah, but the information he requires can mostly be had through cabinet secretaries, who work for him.

Watch and learn, Guru.

Kevyn, I know you aren't very bright, and the intelligence you do possess is clouded by your hatred of Trump, but the SCOTUS made no decision on the citizenship question. There. Was. No. Ruling.
Requiring states to provide accurate information on the number of wetbacks they harbor will accomplish the same thing.

I'd have to hand it to him if he'd simply done what his people said after the supreme court decision...

Poor guy isn't winning nearly as much as he thought he would be, these courts are rough

Perhaps Pelosi will drop the contempt vote on Barr and Ross? So far Barr has caved when it comes down to contempt, I'm wondering if Trump is getting annoyed with him?

Barr made (again) a total fool of himself by "congratulating" Trump for caving on the census question. It seems there is no limit to the depths Barr will sink to degrade himself sucking up to Trump. Why does he do this?

Trump pulled an Obama, executive order!

When you post something like this, it is proof you have no idea what is going on in your orange world..

FYI.....Over same time frame, president Obama has signed the fewest EO of any modern president. trump is matching the war time presidents in the effort to get his own looting as he wishes..

Now, if you had any ethics, you would look at content of each and see if you have a point in that view.

But that would require bawls like a bull.

Seth,

the census was made a law, not to count voters, but to count every person living in our nation..

That EO is nothing but a meaningless sop to his base. All that info is already available.

Hey, you jerk, why are we as tax paying citizens not allowed to know how many parasitic invaders are in our country? It was a question on every census until Mohamad Barack Huissen Osama Obama removed it. Now why did your hero change something so important and fundamental?

No matter what you wish, the job of the census is not to find anything beyond how many people live in our country..

citizenship questions are sent to about 30 to 40 percent of people in most states.. that is the ACS.. and that is used for a tally by the govt.. the adding of the question to the census is one more incredibly stupid thing your orange cult leader has done to get your attention..

that was the purpose when it was made a law and remains so to this day.

NO, President Obama did not remove the question. that is one more of the never ending lies the right wing dreams up for no apparent purpose..
It's been close to 70 years since a citizenship question has been included among the census questions for every U.S. household.

In fact, the U.S. census has never before directly asked for the citizenship status of every person living in every household.

The wording of the question the Trump administration wants to ask comes from a survey the Census Bureau began conducting annually in every county after the 2000 census with about 1 in 38 households — the American Community Survey, which has since replaced the census as the government's way of collecting citizenship information.

How the federal government has used the census in the past to ask about citizenship status has varied over the years. For decades, the census asked only about the citizenship status of people born outside the U.S. who were later naturalized, or became U.S. citizens.

From the first time in 1820 to the most recent in 2000, when only a small sample of households were asked, questions about citizenship on the census have had a history of stops and starts, twists and turns over 200 years.

Sure, and like anything else they can use to gain more power, watch how fast they use their non-citizens to try multiplying their power in Congress.

New York, for example, actually issues people the city knows to be illegals an official "New York City I.D." that entitles them to everything a citizen is eligible for.

You think DeBlasio and Cuomo aren't going to capitalize on that?

It must really be be a burr under your saddle that we have a President who respects the verdict of the court, even when it is clearly driven by partisan politics. He didn't have to, but he dropped it anyway. Doesn't that just 'grind your teeth'?

citizenship is not the point of a census

Agree with you. the Constitution and the applicable amendments directs that a census be held every ten years. All people should be counted to determine number of representatives and how federal funds will be distributed to the states. There is no mention of citizenship status of people being counted. if this displeases you then propose a Constitutional admendment to make the changes you want.

Ahem. And just who do those 'representatives' represent? The U.S. Constitution empowers the Congress to carry out the census in "such manner as they shall by Law direct". One of its stated purposes is to determine representation from each state. Those representatives are chosen by citizens who go to the polls and vote. Nowhere do illegal immigrant criminals (YES, CRIMINALS) get a say in who gets elected, therefore they have no representation and should not be counted towards State representation in Congress.
