Good god, you people couldn't be more Nationalistic if you were marching down Mainstreet clicking your heals together and screaming zeig heil, zeig heil.

Reciting assinine pledges doesn't show a love of country but a commitment to conformity. The irony is that you cons run around claiming to believe in individuality and personal freedom. I take it that's true so long as everyone thinks alike and says and does the same thing as everyone else, correct!
Houston, we have a problem. We have a Main Bus B undervolt.

I'm sorry, Pete, but I can't hear you over the sound of my freedom.

Nope, sorry, that's dead wrong. The Constitution delineates the powers delegated to the Federal government and establishes a framework for that government to function and exercise those powers. State and individual rights, privileges and obligations are not delineated in the Constitution because the Constitution is predated by those rights, privileges and obligations. The Constitution exists because some of those powers were delegated, not the other way around.

We are sovereigns, not subjects.
Nope, sorry, that's dead wrong. The Constitution ... (show quote)
Wow, that's a truly twisted interpretation of the founding document that belongs to We, the People, not the government. Suggest you register for Constitution 101 at the Hillsdale College website and study it. It is free. At the least you'll understand the concept of Federalism.

You see Pete, many people enjoy sayng the pledge, standing up for the country, etc. But all of us that stand up for these things, stand for the right not to stand for.it also, I stand because I have the option not to.

So where do you say it at? I've been in ultra-Conservative Texas for close to 40 years and never in business or pleasure have I had anyone stand up and say the pledge of allegiance...hell not even Cowboys games when I went religiously did we think to say the pledge of allegiance.

I have to ask, you mention standing up...are you confusing the pledge of allegiance we recited as children with our national anthem??? It seems the direction you are going. If that's the case our national anthem isn't a pledge so this whole thread is very confusing...

You seem to be the only one confused here. Do you belong to any civic organizations? VFW, Kiwanis. Rotary, Elks, Masons, etc.? Do you attend any city council or school board meetings?

Wow how did you ever graduate High School?
or is it that you bought into the wrong philosophy?

It could be.... You know the Germans bought into Nazi Germany's philosophy.... that the left progressives are using. So it could be that you are buying into that totalitarian philosophy. That is the one of the progressives not the one of the Nazis. (Needed to clarify that)

But your comment is not surprising....
The true nature of America is to protect the minority for the sake of the idea.

We protect the accused in fear that we put an innocent man on trial for a crime he did not commit.
We protect the innocent.
We protect the weak amongst us.
We allow freedom of thought and ideas.

We do not and should not expel anyone. But we do. We need to stop it.

The loud mouths of the press make it sound like we still live in 1865. But we don't
Public opinion will sway with the wind. Facts will not. Neither will principles.

Your comment is an attack on the harassment you witness, which is very unfortunate.
As a person supporting both the pledge, and the oath, as well as the national anthem, we do not support harassment. Either you are guilty of a crime or you are not, and if proven by a court of law, and found guilty, then and only then are you punished, and not over punishment.

With every principle there is an element of pride. That pride brings forth peer pressure. That peer pressure is your harrassment. The people are not ready to give up and control their feelings and leave it for a court to decide. For We, the People, with all the wisdom we have, are not fully mature. That's just the raw the truth of it. For if we were mature, then the harassment that Obama and Trump have endured would not happen. But that is not the case, we are still a people that has not matured past the point of utilizing stupidity to decide.

But there is still hope for all of us.... that hope is the Constitution and the principles it holds true. If we stick to those principles, whether or not it is popular to do so, then we can never go wrong. If you must, I say, or stand, for the pledge, oath, and anthem for those who cannot or will not. Does that sound more to your liking.....

Kaepernick decided to kneel for the anthem. Protesting evils he saw in the system. That action is okay. But, kneeling is succumbing to the evils, where standing is fighting against the evils. If he began by kneeling then rose to stand it would have sent a message greater than the one that is being shown. For by kneeling he is oppressed, but by standing he overcomes the oppression. This is more the reason to stand than kneel.

We take a stand by saying the pledge, that we will never succumb to the evils of this world. By supporting the constitution we support the unified prudence and justice, that freedom demands. If you support the constitution and follow the rules, then the freedom that prudence demands is exercised. And if you support and defend the constitution then Prudence and Freedom are realized that Justice demands.

By denying the flag, the anthem, the pledge, and the oaths, you invite slavery in all its forms. You limit Prudence and Freedom and Justice shall never be done. Where's Obama's Justice? Where is Trump's Justice for all the misinformation and lies that were spread about both men and their administrations. Where's the prudence of the charges against each men? Why are they both limited their freedoms? And most importantly, the office of Government, let alone the presidency or the congress, or even the Supreme Court, is degraded to that of the office of gutter watch. This is why prudence in the cases that are popular today, is necessary. But that prudence needs freedom to conduct a wise and true investigation. Therefore, the demands of Justice shall be fulfilled.

This is why I agree, and stand with the principles of America. This is why the pledge is important. This is why the Constitution is more than just words placed upon a piece of paper. And I am proud that my fellow Americans Agree with me!

Right or wrong, we must find the truth and decide for ourselves. These principles help greatly. Do you know a better way?

Oh, and you made references to Nazi Germany. At the center of the German philosophy was Nationalism which required everyone to be subservient to the state. I will admit that Hitler would follow up his nationalism with execution but you people want people ostracized and to be denied work and even deported from this country simply for not standing for our anthem. So you are running a close second but that's nothing to stand up and be proud of!

It does not. The flow of authority is exactly the opposite. The Constitution gets its authority from us, not the other way around. subjects get their rights and privileges from legal enactment. Sovereigns are born with them.

So our freedom of speech, religion, etc isn't laid out in the Constitution? The job of the federal government is to protect our rights. And while all rights aren't listed in the Constitution the Constitution is most certainly the foundation that protects our rights. I think you need to reread the Constitution as you are badly mistaken.

I'm not a member of any of those organizations, and I don't go to city council meetings or school board meetings...I guess I'm not very civic minded. But still, once a year at least, we stand in church and say the pledge and I'm proud to do so.

City Council in Minnesota just voted to ban the Pledge of Allegiance.

And wouldn't you know it, the city is St. Louis Park, which is in Ilhan 🐪 Omar's district, and the reason the city council gave that they voted for the ban unanimously was that they were considering the "diversity" of their residents.

Maybe it's because the first three or four decades of my life occurred in infinitely saner times, but events over the last few years seem to be the stuff of one if those stark sci-fi films about "the future."

Lemme first correct you on one important point. Nationalism and National SOCIALISM are two different things. As anyone can see, "socialism" is the operative word in Nazism.

On the other point, I can certainly understand why you "have never heard, in any situation, someone stand up and start reciting the pledge of allegiance." You are obviously not the type to put yourself in a situation where the pledge of allegiance is recited, that sort of respect for our flag and country is not on your agenda.

However, there are millions of Americans who do, and some of them work for us. Listen closely, here is a gathering of US Attorneys.

The whole of your ideology centers around keeping our more minorities in this country and ejecting those that are here now. That's the principle that Trump ran on and the reason you cons elected him and support him now.

We allow freedom of thought and ideas? Your whole complaint is that people are expressing ideas and beliefs that aren't congruent with yours. How can you allow freedom of thought and ideas if you don't want to allow those that they have now?

And I'm not going to go on any further. You don't seem to know your own ideology so how can you know how far off the cliff you people have fallen...

Sorry, Pete, but I can't hear you over the sound of my freedom. I imagine you are just bitching again anyway. Probably doing a lot of projecting and complaining cuz not everyone sees things as you do.
