I'd have to hand it to him if he'd simply done what his people said after the supreme court decision...

Poor guy isn't winning nearly as much as he thought he would be, these courts are rough

Perhaps Pelosi will drop the contempt vote on Barr and Ross? So far Barr has caved when it comes down to contempt, I'm wondering if Trump is getting annoyed with him?

Democrats want no citizenship question. They oppose anything that might hinder their cheating plans for 2020.

If he defied a ruling by a Supreme Court that he and McConnell stacked the congress would have no choice but to impeach him and even his sycophantic senate would likely convict and remove him. Someone on his staff or in the senate likely buttonholed him and convinced him this was a lost cause.

The citizenship question was a cheating scheme the republicans cooked up to ruin the accuracy of the census to benefit republicans and non Hispanic whites.

The census question he should cave on. It is going to be unnenecary, as the A C Survey askes the citizenship question. Since it is shuch a big sample, it is extremely accurate. There is no logical reason to ask this question in the decentional census. Unless, Trump has some unterial motives, which i suspect. Texas will be the big looser if Trump gets his way, along with the Census bureau. They depend on people being cooperative.
People will not be cooperative if Trump gets his way.

You really need to figure out where the citizenship question came from, it is straight out of the right wing book on the science of gerrymandering, the question and what it accomplishes it is right there, and it is what Ross and those who wanted the question got it from. It's why the administration refuses to provide supporting documents, there are none.

I can understand his thinking.... the forms are already printed, to have them reprinted would cost more than petty cash and that would be an issue with liberals. So, as Poppa taught me, there are always other doorways if one is blocked you simply look for another opening. There are hundreds of databases that can be tapped and most would allow for a number analysis, this would eliminate the "data privacy complaint." So, I imagine that he will order a number analysis be turned over immediately. This would be beneficial in many ways..... especially as we near 2020 elections.

Obviously, you only read the lefty side of the story. "Trump caves," indeed.

The president found a way to get around the Democrats' ulterior motive based inclusion of non-citizens (to pad the population count for more congressional representation): that same non-citizenship data is already available elsewhere, and can be cross-checked against the census to eliminate those non-citizens from the population tallies.

So, HA!

They are not printed, it was being held up until Trump "decided" what to do...

He caved because the problems he was creating far outweighed any benefit, which there are none. Ross and Barr were under fire because of the real reason they couldn't say where the question came from, which was from a book on gerrymandering.

Why are you saying he caved? He just issued an executive order.

We'll see how that goes when Trump demands that agencies and states are told to reveal information illegally. He tried that with voter roll information protected by civil rights.

Oh it's how states get their funds. Let them withhold funds and watch CA and NY.
