As for real state fairs, Minnesota has the 2nd largest and longest.. only Texas is larger

The fifth-largest state fair in the U.S. started as a country street fair and outdoes the official state fair of its home, Oklahoma. Tulsa County hosted its street fair starting in the 1890s and continued in its tradition until 1903 when it was organized as the Tulsa County Free Fair. Things picked up in 1913 with the International Dry Farming Congress, attracting agriculturists from around the world.

Fast forward to present day: The fair draws record crowds, numbering 1.15 million in 2017, the same year that Def Leppard held a concert on the grounds. The fair runs for 11 days starting on the fourth Thursday after Labor Day, and its largest facility is the River Spirit Expo center, measuring 448,000 square feet.

When I was a kid I went to both the Wisconsin and Minnesota State Fairs because my dad was working as a livestock veterinarian at both. Never got to go to the rides or funhouse because i was always helping my dad, and my brother was learning all about farm machinery and how to repair it. He ended up working on computer designing of trains after time designing farm equipment. He didn't like the carnival parts of the state fair, or so he said. Probably he just did not have time to do any of them.

quite an experience for you and your brother.. nice to think of..

Mixed memories for me.. loved the Machinery exhibits, which are now mostly gone from Minnesota, my efforts to display animals,(county fair level), were so bad that they could of fit in a laurel and Hardy movie..

I think Wisc, in the 50s-60s had no less then 3 regional fairs rather then only one big one.. I went to the one in Superior Wi a couple times..

All kids should go to things like fairs.. good for them...Beyond the midway..

Beyond the midway is the reason that the fair exists. City people, who often have nothing but disdain for their country cousins, should go to the fair for a couple of days and watch the people who are responsible for the food on your table, and learn what real hard work is all about. It might change the city slickers priorities, at least for a little while.

Very well said, the problem is becoming harder in Minnesota, Dayton tried some things but little results..

Walz is still finding a fit..

I will keep hoping for better time to come..

Humble===Texas..... seems like an oxymoron,,..

I have to admit a secret.. every time i get involved in any border thread, i always end up not getting my opinion correct..

About the only thing am against on the border security issue is the wall. all the rest i pretty much agree with.. A real problem, has been for a long time..
