You wrote; "1) A well-regulated militia--was one that consisted of oversight by local government authorities, the State authorities, and finally National authorities. The purpose of none of these authorities was to overthrow a legally elected government."

What do you base this assertion on? Over and over the founders have defined the militia as the entire body of adult male citizens. No founder's quote I've ever read says anything about the militia needing government oversight.
You wrote; "1) A well-regulated militia--was ... (show quote)

Because the purpose of the Militia was to replace the need for a free standing army. Because of that, they had to be well regulated so that they could be called up when needed.

Quote:
As for the phrase "well-regulated"; that was a phrase in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the people's arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it. So, if something is “well regulated”, it is “regular” (a well regulated clock; regular as clockwork).
As for the phrase "well-regulated"; that... (show quote)

If the context were that of a clock you would have a point. Here the context was with respect to the military. Since the intent was for the Militia to replace our free standing army it is logical that the context would be the same for our free-standing army!

Quote:
In the 18th century, a “regular” army meant an army that had standard military equipment. So a “well regulated” army was simply one that was “well equipped” and organized. It does not refer to a professional army. The 17th century folks used the term “standing army” or “regulars” to describe a professional army. Therefore, “a well regulated militia” only means a well equipped militia that was organized and maintained internal discipline. It does not imply the modern meaning of “regulated,” which means controlled or administered by some superior entity.

David Franklin Hammack has written essays on our constitution provided a list of examples. I include them here.

The following are taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, and bracket in time the writing of the 2nd amendment:

1709: "If a liberal Education has formed in us well-regulated Appetites and worthy Inclinations."

1714: "The practice of all well-regulated courts of justice in the world."

1812: "The equation of time ... is the adjustment of the difference of time as shown by a well-regulated clock and a true sun dial."

1848: "A remissness for which I am sure every well-regulated person will blame the Mayor."

1862: "It appeared to her well-regulated mind, like a clandestine proceeding."

1894: "The newspaper, a never wanting adjunct to every well-regulated American embryo city."
In the 18th century, a “regular” army meant an arm... (show quote)

All of this is a red herring and a logical fallacy. If a Militia was to be a professional fighting force able to protect our nation they had to be as well regulated as our military...

So police will have no reason to carry firearms either...then all we need to Implement your villainous hope, is let every knife carrying Muslim on our streets.

You are a progressive translator!

Having a "FREE STATE" is the purpose of having the populous bearing arms.

You, who hate like no other, would get a pure evil stimulation, if we were vulnerable like the unarmed people of Venezuela.

Even one of your own kind of hateful liars on a leftist news propaganda series, said.."the Venezuelan citizens are unarmed and at the """"mercy""" of the hostile government"

As you say. IF. But nowhere in any of the founders of our constitution did they write that the militia was to be a professional fighting force. You are basing your belief on an assumption that is not only unsubstantiated, but which the founders themselves gave very different explicit meaning of.

According to the "Dictionary of the English Language", 1755, by Samuel Johnson, Regulate means:
1) To adjust by rule or method.
Nature in the production of things, always defines them to partake of certain regulated, established,
essences, which are the model of all things to be produced : this, in the crude sense would need
some better explication.
2) To direct.
Regulate the patient in his manner of living.
Ev'n godesses are women; and no wife Has pow'r to regulate her husband's life.

And according to "An Universal Entymological English Dictionary" by Nathan Bailey (1726) & 1737 & 1775 edition
Regulate:
1) To compose one's Manners.
2) Set in order.
https://archive.org/stream/universaletymolo00bailuoft#page/n505/mode/2up/search/regulate

NOTE: Neither of these dictionaries, or any I found from the 17th through early 19th century, included any variation of external control in their meanings. Most were near duplicates of these two I cited.

And the term "well regulated" is discussed by these respected sources.

Hey hotshot, Eric Swalwell had a gun ban event in front of the NRA headquarters and 18 people showed up. Why weren’t you there to give him 100%?

The cops would be busy in Michigan because there are around 700,000 residents that have a concealed carry permit. You can even carry openly or concealed in the state capitol in Lansing. Try that in California!

Democrats should practice what the preach and disarm.
BTW; what % of crimes are committed by Democrats as opposed to Republicans and Independents?

They should take a poll at all the prisons; that way we would have a head count of those caught.
