Who is really trying to ruin America?

We hear it all the time; Liberals are intentionally trying to destroy America, Conservatives are deliberately seeking to deny basic human rights for the poor and sickly, Liberals are trying to make America a communist State, Conservatives are trying to build a totalitarian government, blah, blah, blah. Is any of this true? The short answer is.....................no.

Obviously, there is a teeny tiny number of American citizens who ARE seeking to do all that crazy BS, but their actual influence is negligible. The vast majority of Americans are NOT trying to destroy the America we all love, in fact, they are trying to improve things for all of us, they just differ on methodology/ the correct path. This being true, why do we keep accusing those who don't agree with us, of trying to destroy their own country? The short answer is........................we are manipulated into doing so.

There is no payoff for cooperation, non or bipartisanship, or anything that would bring all Americans together, there IS a huge payoff for division, angst and anger................which often leads to violence. Does ANYONE donate to a campaign or political organization, because they want them to work with the other side? If there are any such donors, they'd be donating TO both sides, giving each the same mandate. We don't hear about any such thing, right?

We each pick a side, then allow the "leaders" of our side to tell us what we should be pissed about and what we should be promoting. Sure, go ahead and try to deny it, but deep down, you know it's true. Who encourages us to believe that the other side is actively trying to destroy everything we love? Yep, the same people you've been looking to.

The true nature of Americans and their ability to "love one another", is amply displayed in times of emergency, and there have been a plethora of those in the last few years. Folks turn out to help each other, rescuing, housing, feeding them and whatever else is needed. They do so without regard for victims color, sex, political views, sexual preference, etc., they just see people in need and help to the extent of their abilities.

Why can we not see that our broken political system is an emergency, with every citizen a victim, and put out those helping hands coming together in the same way we do in every other emergency?

They don't want to ruin America. They want to rule America. As obama put it "... that are to simple minded to rule in their own affairs".

You line them up then use a high powered rifle giving you the false impression you didn't waste a bullet.

As far as being told what to like and what to hate I am the one that makes those decisions. I don't like tyrants telling me they want to protect me by taking the tools I use to protect my self. Or dictating my health care and my retirement. If you think you own something try not paying the tax once a year on it and see who owns it. I only tolerate Republicans because they are the less of two evils.

Great post but I'm going to disagree with the herd mentality of how to think and vote and form opinions to counter the opposition to our God given right to individualism. You are 100% right about our empathy for the less fortunate and we will always be responsive to those in need. fortunately part of that individualism contains elements of disagreement which explores new ideas that sometimes benefit society, sometimes it destroys. As human beings we are responsible for our own actions and eventually in one way or another pay the piper. There are those who cannot or will not hold themselves accountable which creates a backwash of hate. This is America and it's best damn place on earth to live and prosper. If you let anything dissuade you of these freedoms that's your prerogative or lack of. NOW THATS MY STORY AND I'M STICKING TO IT.

I am always willing to have a polite and factual discussion with anyone, but I can never be convinced by anyone that the on-going massive invasion of mostly nonassimulating, exploiting foreigners, (legal/illegal/refugees/asylees/TPS/DED/etc), is good for our country, our citizens, or the future of either.

I think you just proved Majors point. Shame it takes a national calamity like war or natural or unnatural disaster to make us shuck, if only temporarily, the tribal armour we wear.

Because its not simply the political system. The winners are the ones with the most money and they don't care about political parties. Its in their best interests to keep people divided and they are very good at it. Obama wasn't elected because he was the best for the job. John Edwards had done more and was better qualified. So who was behind propping up Obama? Why was Hilary demonized by the democrats then chosen to run against Trump? It makes no sense.

I agree we have an emergency - no question. But we also need to ask ourselves how we ended up with two such lousy candidates for President. Thats what we need to fix.

Last election Hillary was the candidate because Hillary and her party rigged it so she couldn't lose. This is why she is so heartbroken that she isn't POTUS 45. Donald Trump won because he was the ONLY Republican candidate who wanted to secure the border and redo all the terrible trade deals that Congress got us into. He was the only candidate who cared about what we, in the flyover country, actually care about. Democrats were all in for giving their voters FREE stuff where Mr. Trump was about JOBs.

Agreed. Trump and Clinton were the scrapings of their respective tribal barrels.
