Why NBC got rid of Jay Leno

Comedy seems to be in the eye of the beholder

News leaked out from Hollywood executives that the Obama White House had been pressuring executives at NBC for over two years to replace Jay Leno because the comedian was criticizing Obama almost every night. Obama didn't like it and considered it a 'racist attack' on him.

After data came to light that $100's of millions had been spent on First Family vacations during a recession, Mrs. Obama's unpopular new laws that changed food in America's schools and other negative news including the disastrous Obamacare roll-out & website mess, Jay Leno took his comedy to a new level and his ratings skyrocketed - none of the other comics dared to be so bold.

NBC couldn't stomach the fact that Leno's jokes about Obama were always right on target about the first black president and left-leaning Democrat executives at NBC were being harassed by Obama himself.

GOLDEN OLDIES FROM JAY

On the IRS:
"I was going to start off tonight with an Obama joke, but I don't want to get audited by the IRS."

On NSA surveillance:
"We wanted a president who listens to all Americans - now we have one."

On a new IRS commissioner:
"He's called 'acting commissioner' because he has to act like the scandal doesn't involve the White House."

On the Obama Administration:
"Fox News has changed its slogan from 'Fair and Balanced' to 'See, I told you so!'"

"It is not looking good for President Obama. Today his teleprompter took the fifth."

"The White House has a new slogan about Benghazi: Hope and change the subject."

"It's casual Friday, which means that at the White House, they're casually going through everybody's phone calls and records."

On a recent commencement address:
"He told the young graduates their future is bright unless, of course, they want jobs."

On saying he didn't know about the IRS scandal:
"He was too busy not knowing anything about Benghazi to not know anything about the IRS."

On closing the Guantanamo prison for terrorists:
"If he really wants to close it, turn it into a government-funded solar power company. The doors will be shut in a month."

On White House claims of ignorance on the scandals:
"They took 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' out of the Pentagon and moved it into the White House."

On a Chicago man who set a record for riding a Ferris wheel:
"The only other way to go around and around in a circle that many times is to read the official report on Benghazi."

Concerning the Benghazi, Associated Press, and IRS scandals:
"Remember in the old days when President Obama's biggest embarrassment was Joe Biden?"

Now the last and I think best:
"These White House scandals are not going away anytime soon. It's gotten so bad that people in Kenya are now saying he's 100 percent American."

Every one of the quotations above was delivered on air by Jay Leno.

Late night talk shows just aren’t what they used to be. I’m not surprised by the revelation that Jay Leno was removed due to WH pressure by the Obama administration. Just one more good American thing that Obama destroyed.
Leno’s routine was funny. And to be funny it had to be based in reality. But thin skinned Obama couldn’t stand being criticized.

I always thought Jay Leno left the tonight show through his own volition;that he simply was getting old and wanted to retire; and that if there was a reason he left or retired from the Tonight show so abruptly was due to the fact he bashed Hollywood it self, his proprietors,He said some to the effect-and I quote- "Yeah, Hollywood people go around fuckin` one another", he said this over the air on the nationally televised tonight show, and used the exact word that I mentioned .That is the first I heard of him being forced off the show. However, it is not credible due to the fact that you said it.You seem to be on a bash Obama kick. Why is that? is that to divert attention from the muck-up, Trump;after all Obama is not the president anymore, why do you expend all
that energy in your efforts to bash him.Another reason your story about Obama having something to do with Lenos discharge is not credible because everybody knows that every late night talk show host has traditionally always considered every president great material for his jokes for his monologue.Stephen Colbert, said something to the effect that he liked Trump, but his monologue is strictly all about bashing Trump.I'm sure Obama knew this just as most of them did,and did not pay it any attention. The only time I've heard of Obama commenting on that type of issue was against Ruppard Murddochs and his Fox network .He said something to the effect that-and I quote- "Yeah,Iv'e got a whole network (Fox network) against me"

Damn!! If I'd have known that I'd have made an exception to my no TV watching and watched the tonight show. None of those were vicious, just funny PS but the vicious late night (often personal) attacks on President Trump, his family, his staff and his supporters is A-okay, right?

Not true, Conan O'Brien signed a contract with NBC in 2004 that he would take over the show when Leno's contract expired in 2009. Since Obama didn't take office until 2009, are you saying that they had a psychic premonition that there would be trouble 5 years into the future?

You are correct, Trump IS quite thin skinned and immature. As for the networks not being able to "stand it", quite the opposite is true, they use his immature reactions as fodder for more jokes. The reason why GW took it so much better as did EVERY American president before Trump did is because they were all adults and acted like it. You are aware that EVERYBODY in the public eye are fair game and typically get lampooned by SNL right? The more ammunition you give them, the more you get lampooned. The same is true for all the late night shows and even in stand up comic venues, stand up comics love joking on current events. Don't want to get lampooned, maintain a low profile.

He did leave of his own "volition", the mere fact that they signed up O'brien in 2004 to take over when Leno's contract expired in 2009, Leno had plenty of time to negotiate an extension.

Ovommit was an egotistical diabolical POS. My child tore up her ovommit doll and bathhouse barry tried to put a contract out on her when he found out about it. You talk about someone wanting to be a dicktator?

Leno's Garage is a great watch nowadays and Jay loves his cars and has a lot of fun on the show. I did like the episode where he showed obama' s favorite car and it was the "Clown Car" with him, hitlery, Pigloosli, shumer, Schiff, holder and lynch riding in it with a flat tire! A great watch.
