Early Release of American Taliban is Slap in Face Says Daughter of CIA Officer Killed by Taliban
By BarbWire - May 24, 2019

Imagine being 9-years-old and saying goodbye to your dad, only to find out months later that he has been killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The last time she saw her dad was when she was waving at him as he walked away.

Then how would you feel if you learned that one of the Taliban responsible for your dad’s murder was to be released early from prison?

That 9-year-old was Alison Spann and her dad was Johnny ‘Mike’ Spann who was killed shortly after being questioned by John Walker Lindh, an American who joined the Taliban.

Lindh had been captured and imprisoned, but he was released yesterday several years early and Alison says it feels like a slap in the face to her and her family.

Washington Examiner – ‘Slap in the face’: Daughter of CIA officer killed after 9/11 slams ‘American Taliban’ release – The last time Alison Spann saw her father, she was 9 years old. “My family drove to CIA,” she recalls. “I was the only one who cried. The last memory I have of my dad is him walking away from us in the dark with all his bags.”

That was shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Johnny “Mike” Spann was 32, a CIA paramilitary officer and former Marine who knew he was bound for northern Afghanistan and might never return. Less than two months later — and moments after he had been questioning a bedraggled Taliban detainee named John Walker Lindh — he was killed by a mob of prisoners attempting to escape from the remote fortress of Qala-i-Jangi.

In a cruel twist of fate, Alison Spann’s mother died of cancer a month later. Suddenly, the young girl became the first orphan of what was already known as the War on Terror…

I find it horrible that Lindh that only been sentenced to just 20 years in prison after he betrayed his country.

In years past, people like Lindh were lined up in front of a firing squad and shot for being a traitor.

If not executed for treason, then he should have been locked up, the key thrown away and the door to his cell welded shut.

Some had tried to say that the terrorist had served his sentenced and should be releases based on that but he hadn't served all of his sentence and was released early.

That is what we did to traitors and if anyone ever deserved that son of a gun certainly does. No blindfold either. What is wrong with this country that we let our own sell us out? We really don’t know how many died searching for that worthless scumbag.

He should have had a stronger sentence in the first place. I’ll never forget Obama massaging his mama’s arm in the rose garden. Such a hero to Obama and he wasn’t ignorant of the facts, either.

carol, what are we to do with you?

You think President Obama should be blamed for this?

lindh was sentenced in 2002.... who was president at that time???

Who was the judge?

Lindh was released early for good behavior,, who sat on the board that made the decision?

just like a right winger,, anything at all, blame in on the liberals and the past President..

but do not bother with facts.. you would never know one anyway..

The man known as the “American Taliban” was just released early from federal prison in the US — a decision nearly as controversial as the man himself.

John Walker Lindh was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2002 after pleading guilty to supporting the Taliban, the brutal Islamist group that harbored al-Qaeda in Afghanistan during the planning of the 9/11 attacks.

His capture alongside Taliban fighters in November 2001 quickly turned him into a national obsession. Photos of the 20-year-old Lindh at the time of his capture — face covered in filth, hair shaggy and matted, eyes wild — were ubiquitous in the press.
