Susan, is it not plain that you have no ground to your ideas? A Free-wheeling-thinker unbound by the Church's doctrine and dogma has what basis for their beliefs? You won't be cowed into sheeple agreement and obedience. Okay. Yet without any connecting vine to the words and works of Christ in the NT, you just have play-dough spirituality, to shape as you need or wish.
I do have basis for my beliefs. God called me 36 years ago and gave me a lot of signs to convince me. I am not a Christian and I never will be. I do not believe a lot of the events in the NT, mainly because they happened to me. Jesus did not fulfill a lot of prophecies from the OT. All of prophecy will be fulfilled in the Messiah's lifetime. There will not be a 2000 year gap. There are tens of thousands of different Christian denominations, they all believe something different and they cannot agree. To use your words, it is "play-dough spirituality, to shape as you need or wish". I was "crucified" on October 22, 1969 and "betrayed" by Adam for $7.50 paid in quarters, 30 pieces of silver. There is more scripture about that event than any other prophecy in the OT.
