Just finished mother in laws funeral after 12 days bedside. Liver failure from excessive drinking. She was several days in a comma and when she awoke briefly she was catatonic from high levels of ammonia. I prayed she would wake up so I could ask her to ask forgiveness for her sons and ask Jesus to take her. A few days later she awoke and understood what I was saying. She couldn't talk but a nearly inaudible whisper acknowledged her sins asking Jesus for forgiveness. She lead a sad mean spirited miserable life but like the workers in the field some came early morning, late morning and early afternoon and at the end of the day the ones that arrived the latest to work in the fields recieved the same pay as the earliest arrivals. Her being with Jesus is the same as a life long Christian. Maybe not a head full of crowns but her sins bought and paid for by Jesus on the cross. I began talking to her her about Jesus and knowing she was dieing became so choked up I could barely talk, but she fully understood what I was saying.
The next day she was out again and during the previous day had shown no emotions only acknowledged. So I left to get something to eat and when I came back into the room she beamed with excitement seeing me and forced out "Oh, Jack". Her dozen sisters, brothers, nieces, her daughter, husband, a dozen relatives on dad's side came to see her and no emotion but when she saw me.....
Rose it was beautiful and you know why. She beamed with excitement because she knew she was going to be called home by Jesus and we shared the most precious moment the previous day that she called on Jesus. I believe the Holy Spirit spoke to her and confirmed in her heart and mind her destination, next stop Jesus.

It's been a difficult 3 week's one day a doctor saying she was dying and then the next day a different doctor telling us to make preparations for after care, next day dying, next day aftercare and the roller-coaster of emotions that put on dad, daughter and family. Then burial arrangements that changed three times ending in cremation, the clinically mentally ill family members (her sisters and Brothers) drama, and then my wife driving dad to live with us as I'm driving (national Lampoon style) with my dead mother in law, her ashes in an urn wrapped in a pendleton blanket in the seat next to me. Dad losing his bladder having temper tantrums constantly. The journey would make for a drama comical movie script. We have no kids and a cousin said " you guys had a good run, now it's pampers and pudding cups... Lol)

I beginning to get to know you and wanted to share the experience with you and a few other sisters and brothers in Christ.

I think tonight I'm going to sleep and not get up for a few days.
I'm wiped out and think a bit in shock. I had no idea how terrible alcohol is, how many die everyday slowly from liver failure like mom did. Nearly everyday in this very small town /city ten room ICU people die from liver failure. It's a tortured, slow death and how most all alcoholics will die. I was wondering why nothing is mentioned in TV, magazine ads the same way smoking is painted as a painful death from cancer. I know some people must have stopped smoking from fear seeing these ads and when the liver fails from drinking alcohol it causes the lungs to fill with fluid, along with the other organs begin failing. It's really horrific and nothing in ads showing the reality of drinking.

God Bless,
Jack
Thank you. br Just finished mother in laws funera... (show quote)

Jack, went through the same thing with Mother in Law. Didn't take quite as long for her to pass but then dealing with Father in Law who we didn't know had dementia and on coming Aulthimers even though we saw them on a regular basis was a true pain. We lived about a hour and a half away and he went missing. Long story short, we found him. Took his car keys away and thank a merciful God, my wife's Brother and wife were without kids and could take him in. This move was from the Eastern Shore of Md. to Northern Ca.

The story he told about his being missing was a doozie. Mike

To better understand the causes and solutions for a hardened heart, it’s important to understand the broad biblical meaning of the word "heart." The Bible considers the heart to be the hub of human personality, producing the things we would ordinarily ascribe to the "mind."

Scripture informs us that grief (John 14:1); desires (Matthew 5:28); joy (Ephesians 5:19); understanding (Isaiah 6:10; Matthew 13:15); thoughts and reasoning (Genesis 6:5; Hebrejws 4:12; Mark 2:8); and, most importantly, faith and belief (Hebrews 3:12; Romans 10:10; Mark 11:23) are all products of the heart. Also, Jesus tells us that the heart is a repository for good and evil and that what comes out of our mouth – good or bad – begins in the heart (Luke 6:43–45).

In Mark 8:17–19 we see Jesus’ own disciples suffering from this malady. The disciples were concerned with their meager bread supply, and it was clear that each of them had forgotten how Jesus had just fed thousands with only a few loaves. Questioning them as to the hardness of their hearts, Christ spells out for us the characteristics of this spiritual heart condition as an inability to see, understand, hear, and remember.

Pharaoh was not an innocent or godly man. He was a brutal dictator overseeing the terrible abuse and oppression of the Israelites, who likely numbered over 1.5 million people at that time. The Egyptian pharaohs had enslaved the Israelites for 400 years. A previous pharaoh — possibly even the pharaoh in question — ordered that male Israelite babies be killed at birth (Exodus 1:16). The pharaoh God hardened was an evil man, and the nation he ruled agreed with, or at least did not oppose, his evil actions.

On at least a couple of occasions, Pharaoh hardened his own heart against letting the Israelites go: “But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart” (Exodus 8:15). “But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart” (Exodus 8:32). As the plagues continued, God gave Pharaoh increasingly severe warnings of the final judgment to come. Pharaoh chose to bring further judgment on himself and his nation by hardening his own heart against God’s commands.

God has foresight. He knew Pharaoh was not going to repent or change. As a result of Pharaoh’s hard-heartedness, God hardened Pharaoh’s heart even further, allowing for the last few plagues and bringing God’s full glory into view (Exodus 9:12; 10:20, 27). Pharaoh and Egypt had brought these judgments on themselves with 400 years of slavery and mass murder. Since the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), and Pharaoh and Egypt had horribly sinned against God, it would have been just if God had completely annihilated Egypt.

Therefore, God’s hardening Pharaoh’s heart was not unjust, and His bringing additional plagues against Egypt was not unjust. The plagues, as terrible as they were, actually demonstrate God’s mercy in not completely destroying Egypt, which would have been a perfectly just penalty.

Romans 9:17-18 declares, "For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: 'I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.'"

From a human perspective, it seems wrong for God to harden a person and then punish the person He has hardened. Biblically speaking, however, we have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23), and the just penalty for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). Therefore, God’s hardening and punishing a person is not unjust; it is actually merciful in comparison to what the person deserves.

Looking forward to seeing Elk and moose out the living room window. I'm building and considering putting up an Adobe wall typical of southern California and New Mexico to keep out the grizzly bears. Lol

I think man's nature for war will not evolve but continue with man or end with man. As long as governments equal men in power, power will continue us in wars regardless of what the majority may want
Looking at America's left and right congress /senate they do nothing for the majority and everything to keep and grow power. A silent war of our government against us people

Since January, 2018, 29 people found guilty of a heinous capital crime in a court of law were executed. These violent offenders were quietly and humanely put to death through a series of three injections.

Since January, 2018, approximately 1 million of the most helpless and innocent among us, without due process and without any defense, were killed before they ever saw sunlight. These defenseless little ones were violently torn from their mother's womb. Their heads were split open and their brains were sucked out, their limbs were torn off, their spinal cords cut.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you . . .
Jeremiah 1:4-5

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

God bless you. No one understands how bad that can be, until you know someone that has that horrible disease. I am so happy she found Jesus, and accepted his sacrifice for her on the cross before she left this world. Only sad part are the many blessings she missed out in for not accepting him sooner. Prayers for you.

Yes, it is, jSmitty45, I couldn't agree more.

Many state legislatures around the country seem to finally be waking up to this understanding, and are finally trying to pass laws to reverse the horror of legally slaughtering our own children while pretending to be a righteous country.

The blood of every one of these tiny one's has been crying out to God ever since 1973, when the Supreme Court made the terrible mistake of deciding Abortion was the law of the land.

Should never have been passed in the first place. I am so hoping Roe Vs Wade will be overturned. That precious life that God creates begins at conception. I can't even begin to imagine how that little one is feeling when they are being torn limb by limb, just so they can receive money for it's little body parts. What a sick world we have become!

We have bypassed sick, and have gone straight to evil. We live in an extremely evil world, jSmitty45, as God's prophecy foretold.

As Christians, we can stand, for God's promise extends to all believers: "And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand." Romans 14:4

Canuckus is absolutely right. There is a distinction between killing and murder. Dennis Prager discusses this. Prager is perhaps the greatest scholar on the first 5 books of the Bible.

First, the commandment is not "you will not kill" it is thou shall not "murder." Now then, the bible references..... only Saul/Paul implies that vengeance is improper. The "old" Testament gives specific reasons to putting a person to death. The major, of course is for murdering .... disobeying the 6th Commandment. Now before you get into the price for causing death of an unborn child, that is for "accidental loss." The "old" testament does not permit or allow the murder of an unborn with one exception, to spare the life of the mother.

In very rare circumstances abortion is the only medical treatment. And those circumstances does not include "for the convenience" of anyone or for getting rid of an unborn child. I am pro prevention. As for criminals who has murdered, I am torn. I can see the merit for having them jailed for the rest of their lives without any possibility of parole. However, that could be seen as cruel punishment and it is very expensive. And there has been a number of cases where errors have happened and the wrong person is jailed. The bible, if you go further into it than just using it to prove your point, says that a trial for murder...... the accused must confess, there must be three accusers; even if one saw the murder happen, at least two other people have to have direct knowledge that the individual standing accused committed the crime. The modern day method of trial has strayed from the original intent of the law. So, in rare cases I think the person should be put to death.....if "he confesses and three people have direct knowledge." Otherwise, life without parole.
