If it passes it would be the strictest abortion law in United States history...I'm pro-life,used to be pro- choice in the past until i actually saw abortion performed...However i dont agree with some aspects of this law...It prohibits an abortion if a woman was raped or in case of incest...I dont agree with that at all...I'm sorry,if i was raped i dont want and i dont think i should be forced to carry this baby under my heart for 9 months, when every single minute it will remind me how it got there...And another thing...Imprison Docs for 99 yrs its an overkill in my opinion...I want to hear your opinions...Please,lets be civil...

I must say that it is never the baby's fault. They are complete innocents here, even with rape and incest. IMO, this law will be standing up for the baby human being's rights because they can't on their own. If the woman does not want the baby, she can give it to someone who does. Women should be held accountable for having unprotected sex, not be handed a "get out of jail" card for not keeping her legs closed or not protecting herself from pregnancy. In 2015, 638,169 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas. No one can ever tell me that all those abortions were necessary!! All those human beings dead....who knows what some of them would turn out to be. The one who cures cancer? The one who becomes a neurosurgeon and saves your child's life? Even the babies that are killed because of rape and incest might have become someone great, and even if not great, alive and living a life like I am.

Emily, im not talking about women having unprotected sex..Im talking about women who were raped...For me personally,i cant carrying a rapist's baby for 9 months under my heart...When i was pregnant with my son,it was the happiest time of my life, because i loved my husband...If i was raped this baby would remind me of this horrible time in my life....So my opinion exception should also be extended to women who were raped!!!

I just added that part to my response, but I did address rape and incest. I still believe those innocent babies deserve to have a life. If the mother has any regard for the preciousness of life, she should give that child a stab at living....not with her, but with someone who will love the baby. After all, it's only 9 months out of her life. I know the memories will be awful for her, but killing the baby will not remove that from her. My niece was raped and decided to keep the resulting baby. He is now a wonderful man who became a dentist. He is married with two children and is a very nice human being. My niece gave him up for adoption, but kept in touch with the mother. That's part of why I feel the way I do.

She said that knowing that she allowed this nice man to live such a nice life took away some of the pain.

Thanks. She's a very strong person, and you're right. If you don't have that kind of strength, you might not be able to handle it. The courts should take that into consideration, as well as if the mother's life is threatened by the pregnancy. Fortunately the numbers are very low for abortions of rape and incest victims...1.5% of all abortions.

It probably will. I'm against abortion but never been pregnant from rape or incest. I believe that life still deserves a chance but for those of us who have never gone through that its an easy thing to say.

Emily what your niece did is amazing.

I think both you and Emily have made excellent points...
I agree that the law is extreme... And I would never force anyone to have a child from rape...

Yet Emily's story is one that we should all be aware of... There is much TRUTH in such a decision...

Allow me to add...

My grandmother was raped when she was eighteen... And became pregnant... She had an illegal abortion... Later she went on to marry and had five children (one who died in childbirth..)... She admitted to me tgat having had and raised her children she felt that she had been wrong to abort the child... She was young, unmarried, and frightened.. It is one of the decisions she would take back...

An excellent thread Larisa...
It is not a simple issue...

In my opinion perhaps more rape victims would find closure if we more appropriately punished rapists....

Execution... With prejudice...
