Has anyone here tried with success any of the recommended options?
We came home from work yesterday to two skunked dogs, and I don't want a repeat of that rodeo.

I'm just wondering what actually works. Ammonia soaked rags sounds like the most inexpensive option.

A bath in tomato juice is an old country remedy.

I'm not looking for a remedy. I have that. I want to keep them away so I don't need it.

The most effective way to accomplish that is proactively, I prefer .22 LRHP, head shots only.

Suggest eliminating or reducing their food supply. They have an affinity for grubs which they root out of the turf. Perhaps a general insecticide is the best route.

I spray enough around here to kill the bugs at your house too. Only animal food outside is in the barn for the horse.
We live in the country, so critters are part of it. I just don't want skunks coming around.

Pretty sure the dogs got squirted from outside the fence, and I can't afford to spray the entire 5 acres of pasture, so I need a repellent.

I have heard garlic might work. I think lowe's has slquid form to use as a repellant.

Unless your dogs are Democrats, they should soon learn not to mess with skunks.

Wolf urine along the entire perimeter of your property will keep away skunks, coyotes, coons, and all manner of critter and vermin.

Which do you want to keep away the skunks or the smelly dogs?

The dogs just might "voice" an objection to that.

I don't have a wolf handy that needs to pee a lot.

I'm not sure they're that smart. If we didn't have the chain link fence, they would have tried to tackle our resident badger.
