Electoral College and the Vision of our Founding Fathers…..

In their infinite wisdom, the United States’ founders created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the nation?

The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet. It should finally put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense.

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.
Trump won 3,084 of them.
Clinton won 57.
There are 62 counties in New York State.Trump won 46 of them.

Clinton won 16.
Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.
In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)

Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.
The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.
When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.
Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc) DO NOT and SHOULD NOT speak for the rest of our country

Do share this. It needs to be widely known and understood.

Don’t see the logic to that. Elections aren’t about square miles; they’re supposed to be based on the will of the people. That hasn’t been happening.

Democrats want to change the rules because they lost in 2000 and in 2016. Just like they want to dilute the Supreme Court because Trump has control of it. Democrats must remain a Minority party. They are too dangerous to trust with power. Obama's abuse of the IRS to punish his enemies was one small example. Never ever ever vote Democrat. Even if the other guy is an ax murderer. Vote for the ax murderer. He is far less dangerous than the Democrat.

You would be correct, in a democracy. This is not a democracy, this is a Constitutional Republic. We live by the rule of law, not the tyranny of the majority.

You don't like the law? No problem, just change it. Go ahead, I'll wait...

And you are a democrat I guess. No logic, just let me win any crooked way I can attitude. I believe the founding fathers were a lot more intelligent than you prove to be.

There have been a number of Constitutional Amendments over the years which have failed to pass philosophical muster as far as I am concerned. The 16th, 17th and 18th come to mind, and the 25th and 26th are somewhat lacking. The twelfth, however is one of the more brilliant ones keeping us from the rule of thuggish majority rule. The states have ceded far to much power to the federal government over the years, with the 4th and 10th amendments seemingly being ignored these days.

Of course my favorite is the 21st, as it corrects a major fubar.

This old canard again? No wonder the right wing seems ignorant sometimes. How many times does this have to be disproved? Yet here it is again. Jeez, some of you folks are either dumb, brainwashed, or desperate.

Anyone who goes by the info that the leftwing Snopes puts out is a very easily led
fool. I believe the founding fathers who proposed the electoral college had the best interests of America at heart. No, this is not a democracy that the majority rules. This is a republic that is run by elected representatives and a president that is elected by the states which each have votes according to the population. I don’t want a bunch of New Yorkers or Californians from a few counties each, running the country.

Exactly! And just a little reminder, the despicable Hillary didn't win anything.

That would be like a Superbowl loser bragging about winning part of the first quarter.
