Yes I agree that the bible is the most influential book ever written but I fail to see how it changed the world. The old testament in addition to Judaism spawned two montheistic and hugely expansionary religions Christianity and Islam. The bible didn't stop the blood bath of the Christian Crusades, It didnt stop the inquisitions thart tortured people into confessing to being a heritic and naming those who were in it with them. so they could be arrested by the religious authorities and tortured into doing the same.
It didn't stop Islams repeated incursions into Europe as part of its expansionary nature. It didnt stop the witch burnnings. Even now a Catholic High school in Kentucky has 33 cases of chicken pox because so many refuse to be vacinated over their religious beliefs
Yes I agree that the bible is the most influential... (

24 million, Nik, give or take. Bible scholars crunched the numbers, they went through the entire Bible and added up all deaths noted, in addition, they calculated all deaths recorded that occurred under the banner of Christianity from the beginning of the church to the present--this included the deaths in the inquisitions, the crusades, the Catholic persecutions of Protestants in England and elsewhere, and all other such events right up to today. Throughout the 7000 year history of Judeo-Christianity, 24 million is the total number of deaths from ALL causes--natural, disease, crime, famine, executions and war.
In its 1400 year history, Islam has murdered 292 million people, Jews, Christians, infidels, and many of their own. That is more people than were killed in all of the wars in the 20th century.

No I do not. The bible is not a history book it is a book allegorical tales that carry a moral message to the reader. Very few real stories fall into that category. But the Bible is not the reason I'm an atheist. I am such because I have seen no evidence that any such Deity exists
Questions, Nik, every time you post, you leave us with nothing but questions. Head scratching questions, like where does this guy come up with this crap?
If the Bible is not the reason you are an atheist, then why is the Bible such a problem for you? Why is it necessary for you to constantly denigrate it, deny its relevance, and make all kinds of weird claims that it is allegory or fiction, a forgery and a fake? Is this how you rationalize your disbelief?
You say you "have seen no evidence that any such Deity (God) exists". Are you even looking for such evidence? If so, through what lens? Your eyes? Are the eyes and the other four senses your sole connection to all that exists in this magnificent universe? Or, is it possible that humans have an innate ability to "see" things beyond the visual spectrum? Wavelengths on the electromagnetic spectrum range from a fraction of the size of the atomic nucleus up to several thousand kilometers. What we see with our eyes, the visual range, runs from 380 to 740 nanometers--a total of 360 nanometers.
If you are looking for evidence of God's existence on 1/100,000,000,000,000ths of the electromagnetic spectrum, you have put extreme limitations on your search parameters. You won't "see" such evidence under a microscope or through a telescope. The eyes, as with the other four senses, are capable of perceiving only what allows us to function as a physical creature in the physical world.
The human spirit, Nik, is the "eye" that "sees" God, connects us to Him, and Him to us, but since you have apparently rejected the spiritual nature of human beings, you have effectively disqualified yourself as a credible authority on whether or not God exists, on the Bible, and on religion in general.
