You know, it's such an uphill battle fighting the Democratic party for border security. I think we should just think outside the box here and be logical. These poor, poor people from Mexico and Honduras and Columbia and etc etc are SUFFERING. It's IMMORAL to turn them away. So let's just be very humanitarian about this to ALL the poor citizens of these awful countries. Let's just absorb them all into the United States. We can benefit from the resources, arable land and manpower. They can benefit by us creating infrastructures and enforcing US laws so these poor people are treated fairly and have an opportunity to work and better themselves without having to leave their belived homes. Oh, wait, you say. That's imperialistic you say. Well - how can we ignore the millions and tens of millions of our suffering neighbors? Let them ALL be Americans. With all the attendant rights and responsibilities thereof. What say you OPPers?

We as a prosperous nation are done. We become the shithole that LA and SF are. Wife and I are old enough to probably not have to deal too much, I fear for my daughter and her family. One thing going for me is that her husband is a really down to earth and a real son of a bitch when it comes to his family. I take a lot of reassurance in that. You gals would love him, strong, up at 3:00am to work out, good looking guy, black belt in something but very quiet. Best of all, he and I like each other and get along as we like the same things. Family, fishing and hunting. Mike

Generally speaking, and I don't know exactly why it is, but those men and women who enjoy fishing and hunting are dependable and good folks to be around. I too was please when both our children married those who enjoy the outdoors with them and now their own families. Unfortunately fewer young people are taking up these activities. The lure of the information age and cell phones texting is a poor substitute. Your son-in-law sounds like a real jewel.

Well, making Mexico and Central America part of the U.S. would definitely solve the problem on paper. The can of worms it would open up is another story all together. On the one hand replacing the corrupt governments in Mexico and Central America with the U.S. system of the rule of law, things "might" get better. But until we can clean up the corruption and abuse of power in our own government, glaringly illustrated by the attempted coup by the Obama administration, I don't see how we could clean up Mexico and Central America. Interesting idea for thought, doubt it could work.

I think they'd still want to migrate north, but it's an idea.

AGREED post was meant tongue in cheek, but I'd live to put that question to our leading dems and watch their heads explode
