I've been saying that for quite some time. I understand the historical reason for starting that tradition; to continue to play during a world war, rationing and all that, make the sport a patriotic expression. Of course, that's pure dee bull hockey, so it's time to drop the BS and return the National Anthem to the sacred and solemn expression it is meant to be.

Liberalism has given us a generation that does not respect God, the Bible, the Pledge of Allegience, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence,or our national motto. We might as well do away with the National Anthem.

The more times I hear it, the more times I stop what I'm doing and salute, even in my living room. I'd have a hard swallowing not having it at a ball game. I don't think it is the military background me, because the first time in boot camp when my company had colors that day, chills went down my whole body standing there and saluting the flag – and that was nearly 60 years ago. I still love [standing at attention and] saluting Old Glory. That said, you can believe I would poo-poo their idea. It was bad enough they don't have the pledge of allegiance to the flag like they used to. That just gives me a feeling of something missing and the fact that so many just don't care, makes my heart bleed for those 'unpatriotic' folks.

Uh NO FREAKIN WAY!! It is time though for the NFL to stop playing victims. All are multi-millionaires, yes overpaid and overindulged greatly. I never owned a slave and I don't think anyone else here did, but to listen to them, we all do and are shutting down the plantation. Check the stats of how many are guilty of many different crimes.

The tradition part, feeds into football once being America's sport. You don't have to necessarily stand and salute when the Anthem is played. Don't want to, don't. Other side of the coin, don't be an effn' idiot while it plays. If that's too much for you, you don't belong in a stadium.

You can't force a love for America down someone's throat. While I prefer to stand during the national anthem, I do know where the remote control is to switch channels when pro-football comes on. I understand their ticket and memorabilia sales are waaay down. I hope it stays that way, but also for other reasons. I think too much emphasis is on the professional sports with disastrous results to young people.
Too many young people are OBSESSED with becoming a professional athlete or rapper or actor/actress to their own detriment and failure to obtain the skills needed to succeed as an adult, things like interpersonal relationships, how to cook and keep house, balance a budget, wisely save for their future. Right now there's yet a new scandal, about privileged students admitted to prestigious universities based on bribes paid by their parents (mostly Democratic donars, by the way) to cheat on admissions.

I think we all know you can't force someone to love America. We can stop paying taxes which subsidize stadiums. Btw, I agree with everything and some just weren't built to play football or go to indoctrination centers (college). I really had advocated not going to college although the pay is better if you earn a degree without cheating. Who knows how long that has been going on.

Professional sports are not needed. They can go bankrupt for all I care.

I think it is time for us to start seriously thinking about how lucky we are to be Americans, to take all of those trying to destroy “The Great American Experiment” to task.

If this country is so bad, why are people risking their lives, kids’ lives to come here.

A few minutes of respect for the flag, anthem, seems like a small sacrifice for the bounty this country has brought citizens & the rest of the world. The people doing other things irritate me. My answer if quit having all pro & college games televised.

I don’t know or care who this woman is. Weekend soccer games don’t assemble 10’s of thousands who this Country has blessed enough to be able to buy tickets to pro & college games. I grew up in a time when we said The Allegiance to the Flag & recited The Lord’s Prayer, every morning in school. That was when you got an education, Civics, Government, History w/ all the ills & successes.

I have to put up w/ colledge graduates now who cannot write an engineering report in any organized manner, just ramblings, vague descriptions like “the machine seemed not be operating properly”, “ I don’t know for sure but the boxes may have been too big for the machine to handle”, “is this one of our machines?” The last one floored me. Round trip airfare for that particular college graduate was $12,000.00.

Time to stop subsidising with taxpayer dollars ALL infrastructiin that advocates against respect for the flag and the constitution.

Let football games go without playing the national anthem, and let the fans totally pay for the infrastructure, stadiums etc. Let schools do without the pledge of allegence, and let the adherents of those schools pay for the infrastructure, teachers and curricula.

For those schools and sporting events that want taxpayer dollars in subsidies, let them pay due respect to the country by restoring respect for the flag and anthem, and originality adherence to the constitution. Or let them emigrate to some other country of their choice.

It is all manipulation, just like starting wars is.

As legend has it, singing the national anthem at sporting events began during the 1918 World Series, when the nation was at war. As recounted by the New York Times of Sept. 6, 1918, it was the seventh-inning stretch of the first game between the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox.

You forgot to include "The Constitution of the United States of America", in your list. Welcome to the "People's Worker's Paradise of North America", formerly, The United States of America.
