I wondered if anyone would have the same reason as me, VERY PRO! Sure some will claim the death penalty isn't a deterrent, it has been for me. No, I'm not a criminal, there are just some the world would be better without, but that's up to God or some black ops buds. There used to be some crimes like killing a cop for example, no big investigation, they knew they were gonna die. I don't remember when that changed. Probably around the time of the Manchurian candidate.

He effectively promoted the lie that all cops, regardless of their race, were racists didn't he?

Definitely PRO final punishment. When a court and jury have found guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, there can be no redemption. Best to eliminate the risk of recidivism by taking the life of the guilty. Personally, I think the sentence should be carried out with minimal public observance and in a humane method with minimal pain. We are not torturers, but neither do we expect to be tortured. Closure is all that can be achieved upon execution.

For heinous crimes, such as mass shootings, murders with torture, molestation and some cases of animal abuse, I think we should go back to public hangings. Also floggings. Many people who do not "fear" death are terrified of pain. A child molester should be horsewhipped and then hang what's left. Criminals respond to fear. Period. They commit crimes against easy victims, when they think there is little chance they will be caught.

Absolutely pro. As stated it will certainly prevent repeat offenders. Also I'm quite sure if one knows upon conviction, he/she are definitely forfeiting their life, there is a deterrent.

Problem is the uncertainty of it all. There is something like a 25% application of punishment for anyone convicted of a crime not to mention being likely not to be caught at all.
None of this takes the place of raising kids 'right' of course but we are pretty far down the trail from that being universal.
Mandatory death for certain crimes even if we have to vote on what those crimes are. Swift carrying out the sentence is equally important.
There are lots of things that got us where today.
Politics.MSM, greed, drugs, non-empathy for the rights and feelings of others.
I think strong punishment for conviction is needed and probably one appeal is sufficient. 30 years wasted resources on attorneys is not very bright.
Another problem is Political Correctness taking the place of recognizing there ARE bad people among us and we need to decide if we are going to continue to endure their antics.

What's wrong with letting the victim decide, or the family of the victim under circumstances such as murder. I'm not just talking about capital punishment, but any punishment, or even no punishment at all, if that's the decision. Why should a bunch of strangers get to pick out the punishment suffered by a perpetrator who has wronged you or your family, or both? 'Let the punishment fit the crime', as we hear so often. Fine, then. Who knows better than the victim(s) what punishment fits the crime committed against them?

It must remain the state that punishes not the victims or the individuals harmed. We don't want to put anyone in the position of satisfying revenge neither do we want the guilty to be released by forgiving victims.

Also if you execute them you don't have to worry about them getting out on parole and seeking revenge and they can't harm anyone else.

How much does it cost to hang someone from a hundred year old tree with a donated rope, and horse?

Didn't you just get that bass ackwards? It's a whole lot cheaper to pull the lever than it is to secure a prisoner for years.

I'm for the death penalty for the guilty, to administer justice in order to maintain law and order, meaning a fair and speedy trial, proof beyond a reasonable doubt and a just sentence, to be carried out quickly, without years of delay.

God ordained the death penalty:

Genesis 9:6 says, "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man." This is part of the larger covenant that God made with Noah after the flood. It not only reflects the great value of human life, but also gives the reason for that value: Man is made in God's image.

The absolute language of Genesis 9:6 suggests that all those who kill another human being must be killed. And since this mandate was given long before the Mosaic Law to all who survived the flood, it apparently has universal application.

In the New Testament, in Romans 13:1-7 Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, calls his readers to submit to the authority of civil government, reminding them that "if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers (the authority) do not bear the sword without reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."

In its ultimate use, the word sword in the hands of lawful government, implies legal execution, reaffirming the death penalty.
